So far this home season

Umesh 13 @ 54 runs each
Ishant 6 @ 27 runs each
Bhuvi 8 @ 25 runs each
Shami 18 @ 28 runs each

And remember these were on pretty flat tracks... Umesh's figures look the worst, but as anyone who has played cricket knows, figures can be deceptive. Yadav has been very slippery and has challenged the batsmen often without luck... I recall at least 3 fairly straight forward catches being dropped in the slips off him...

Umesh picks up four so far, and if Virat hadn't persisted with the old ball may have cleaned up the tailenders... Hope he takes the new ball first thing tomorrow...

Umesh was key in this Test as well, getting SMITH....

I thought his spell made all the difference, even though India were slightly lucky with the Shaun Marsh dismissal, that's the way it goes sometimes...

24 needed with a bunny coming in at 11? No problem!

9 wickets so far at around 17 runs each against Australia... he is improving on his haul in terms of wickets AND average...

Ishant meanwhile has picked only two wickets at 50+ each...but he has bowled MUCH better than that...

As my previous posts indicated... averages don't always reveal the quality of the bowling...

Also, Kohli has used both Ishant and Umesh quite a lot, and not just with the new ball, but also with the old ball... and not just to contain with the old ball, but as attacking options...

Cricinfo lists Vernon Philander as RFM as well. Only a total idiot or a totally biased fool would equate Yadav and Philander in pace. Meanwhile Mustafizur of Bangladesh is listed as LF. Same as Mitchell Stark. Who decides at cr@pinfo? Amazing

Yesterday in the match versus Sri Lanka Mustafizur was trundling at mid 120 to mid 130... Still listed as LF by Cr@pinfo... hahahahaa... truly earning the name CRAPINFO...

Repeating what I said in the 4th Test thread, Umesh has been the unsung bowling hero of this home season....

I think under Kumble's stewardship, India will have a formidable enforcer in any conditions, just hope that Shami will prove more durable from now on...
