PSL: Plauged by Controversy

The second season of the Pakistan Super League has somehow lurched to the finals amidst corruption, match-fixing arrests, among other controversies. Now the final is set to be played in Lahore, after the rest of the tournament was played in UAE, but most of the top foreign players contracted with the teams are loath to travel there...for obvious reasons...

Apparently however there are some foreign players who are willing to play in Lahore, and the two finalists will be able to pick from a pool of those. It is quite a farcical situation, and if it were happening in the IPL cr@pinfo would be highlighting it FRONT and CENTER...with loud calls for moving the tournament to SAFE venue... but since it is in Pakistan they are unsurprisingly muted...

Anyway hope these brave souls just end up being figuratively and NOT literally "bali ke bakre"....

A one-sided match in which the big name foreign players for Quetta didn't show up and predictably Peshawar won the game...

The good thing is that nothing untoward happened... It gives Pakistan cricket fans the faintest of hopes that cricket may soon return to the country, instead of being played in exile in UAE... If PCB and the Govt. of Pakistan can pull off a few more big matches like this... it will start making the case.

As I wrote in my article earlier I hope to see India play Pakistan in Pakistan... under the right conditions...
