In a way she was the CK Nayudu of Indian Women's cricket... even as a 10 year old I had heard of her...and read about her in newspaper clippings...

Nice article by Sharda Ugra on this pioneering woman cricketer who has now been recognized with a life time achievement award by the BCCI...

Btw, Indian women were pioneers in another way...they wore trousers, while the women from England, etc. wore skirts...Later England and Australia and the others also started wearing trousers...But in Western countries the SEXISM prevalent meant the women HAD to wear skirts...

Playing cricket is much more sensible in trousers than skirts...
