Irani Cup 2018

Vidarbha score 702 for 5 after 3 days... (though one day was shortened to only 28 overs due to bad weather)... still makes one understand how come the BCCI has insisted that Ranji Trophy matches be played in neutral centers...

Here Vidarbha prepared a total PATTA wicket and once they won the toss it was as good as having won the game... especially with time lost due to bad weather... The only hope for ROI is to bat out the rest of the time and remain unbeaten... so then no first innings leader can be determined and the cup will be shared...

PATHETIC in the EXTREME...

Vidarbha reach 800-7 then reduce ROI to 98-6... before the forgotten man Jayant Yadav and Hanuma Vihari of IPL fame buckle down to take ROI to 236-6... If the other players had applied themselves ROI could have possibly saved the match...now NO CHANCE... especially as there is provision of 6th day added if neither side had completed their first innings...

Old man Jaffer at age 40 smashes 286...

Biggest disappointment for me was how Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair were not able to contribute significantly... Prithvi Shaw looked fluent... and only over eagerness to score induced a false shot... he looked totally comfortable at this the highest FC level below Test level...

Vidarbha win on first first innings lead... Hanuma Vihari 180 odd... and Jayant Yadav 90 odd showed what could have been achieved by the more recognized ROI batsmen if they applied themselves...

all in all a pretty farcical match... played on a PATTA wicket. Bat dominating ball totally. 1300+ runs for just 17 wickets...
