India A crash to defeat against English Lions

Alistair Cook's near double hundred proved the difference between the sides...He was well supported by Test player Dawid Malan.

India A included Test stalwarts Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane in their squad, but to no avail...Murali failed in both innigs... and though Rahane played gritty knocks in both innings...for 49 and 48... he failed to get a big one.

The only other positives were the batting of Prithvi Shaw in the first innings and Rishab Pant in both innings...

Pant has been called up to the senior squad as cover for Dinesh Karthik...who himself came in for Wridhiman Saha... who seems to be out for the entire series...

India A showed some resiliency against Windies A after poor showings in their first go...they fought back in both unofficial Tests to draw the first and win the second...but against the English Lions...they folded up twice...not putting up a fight except for Rahane and Pant

I have been very disappointed by Mayank Agarwal and also Karun Nair. They both had ample chances to impress the selectors before the Test series, but each failed often.

Funny how the Test match specialists Vijay and Pujara... have looked the worst... though Pujara was starting to get better in his last knock... but still his average in England for Yorkshire and India is around 15 runs per innings...

Time to include Pant.... Karthik is 30+... same age as Saha... and Parthiv.... who would have been a good choice in England... But now must go with Pant... give youth a chance... England has done that quite successfully with Curran
