Sharks in Daylight (on the Park?)

So the day Rosey spoke of when BoBo and Zander have to take on more bowling duties comes sooner than we might have though.
Excellent.
Stick it to 'em Trigger!

Let's just hope that Banks, finally, does something in first-class cricket to justify his selection.

Really would have preferred to see Munday, rather than Banks.

I wondered if the two spinner selection suggested that Mr Rose is expecting a turning track.

If so, the Sussex team selection does not, necessarily, appear to suggest that they have read the pitch in the same way. If they had, Beer would surely play?

But if we are not expecting a turning track then it makes the selection of Banks very hard to fathom?

Might be Pete time quite soon?

It is, presumably, he that will be first change, rather than Zander?

My perfect day would see Pete and Max running through the Sharks.

If an alien had come down to Earth in the last week, and happened upon the County Ground, I suspect the first question they'd ask is why we only ever play Sussex. Actually, scrub that, they'd take a good look at the Caddyshack first.

How curious a thread subject:

This is a favourite, chez Bloke.

To answer my own question - BANKS - was first-change!!!

I think that surely says that Langer and Rose are expecting a turner for this game.

I still think that Sussex are, presumably, expecting no such thing, though.

Usborne's book on 'Politics and Governement' is the best textbook I've ever used - yep I've no idea why they chose that particular subject either - they still did it with all the cool illustrations and so forth. Excellent.

I suspect it might be more a control issue at this stage, AG.
Banks has kept an end tight, and that may have contributed to the breakthrough.

Could well be.

Of course, I await an indication from someone that is there as to whether Charl is operating in conventional mode?

He bowled left-arm spin and slow cutters at Whitgift. If this pitch really is abnormally dry, it could be that he's already bowling off half a run-up and bowling slow cutters?

The slow run-rate also makes me wonder if Rose/Langer have called this right and it is really slow and dry?

Possibly the same strip as was used for the Yorks game last year, since that was an abnormally attritional type of game for Taunton? It also produced a result, of course...

But it tends to answer the debate about the position of Munday.

Spinners are still being picked for games on the basis of what they DON'T give away rather than what wickets they might take and Munday is not yet offering the 'wicket-taking' option in a forceful enough manner to change minds and therefore is spending his time in the seconds.

have to say I'm still surprised that Langer does not turn to Arul first once more. Especially after he took two wickets against this very side in his first over not two days ago.

Nothing of the kind has been mentioned on commentary.

Could just be a good piece of kiddology, Grockle. As in "this guys even better than the one two of you got out to the other day!"

Banks did get Joyce out in the FP Trophy QF.

Might the fact that two of their best players - Yardy and Joyce - are southpaws, have played into the decision to pick Banks?

Didn't Nash make a ton at Hove?

I'm starting to fear he might have a bit of the wood on us...

Excellent descriptive commentary this morning as well. It's great to have it available while trundling about Bicknoller Towers doing stuff and chivvying the servants etc.

Yes. Top stuff today. Although Blackacre might feel a little short-changed!

109 for 1 at 2.61 runs per over?

Almost old-fashioned CC cricket?
