I see he fancies coming back.

Maybe he sees himself continuing on work that JL was doing in the last 3 years. Says he loved it in 2004 when he was here.

You can take the boy out of Somerset....

Great news, hope it happens.

Whatever we think of the set-up at the County Ground (and we DO complain from time to time), we must be getting somehting right if players of the stature of RP want to come to play for us.

I feel it is a real compliment to SCCC and the supporters.

I mentioned the other day that since R T Ponting will be playing in neither the T20 World Cup nor the IPL, he might be an obvious pick as our overseas player for the first four games of the season.

I don't really beleive we're going to find a truly decent overseas seamer who is not tied up in one or both of the aforementioned competitions.

Therefore, make it happen please, Mr Rose.

Have we got a space for him?

Depends. What's he like with the wicketkeeper's gloves on?

Perfect. Given his provenance, we can call the role "head curator", so as not to set off the bells and whistles at the employment tribunal.

What an asset RP would be.With BR spending time on pitches RP could take over the roles of Director of Cricket,Head coach and Batting coach and even sort out the VAT! Oh and I forgot score a few runs!

What we need is a bowling coach, and yet we can't afford one according to Marcus.

Rick,as I like to call him,has been in touch and the main reason he wants to come back is because of his love for Watchet.
He reckons the burgers down the esplanade are better than any he's ever had before.
Not to mention the coffee in Helikers.

A great man.
I'd love to see him back.

I think if the Aussies regain the Ashes he might retire..maybe next year for a couple of years. I would take that, but only if we can get a couple of our home grown bowlers through.

Maybe Im being optimistic.

I have drawn a complete blank who are our home grown bowlers? HELP

Is he TT then?

Doesn't he know about The Star Inn? Is that "Watchet's little hidden gem"?

And don't forget the Co-op in Swain Street - I'm told that there's a man in there who knows all about cricket.

As in the famous song "There's a man works down the Co-op swears he's Jonathan Agnew"?

I don't think anyone working in a Co-Op in Somerset would be very likely to claim to be Mr Agnew. Not exactly the most popular man in these parts!!!

Funny you should say that, SP, 'cos there's a guy works down the chip shop in Market Street who swears he's Elvis.

and there's a guy who comes on here who swears he knows Ponting, Wooller and Lloyd George.
