Re: Important news about my photos.
Mike TA1 08 March, 2012 14:06
This is a difficult one Grockle, if the 500 being left on the old site does cover completely years 2010/11 then I will say yes they are all before 2008, but if I posted more than 500 in the years 2010/11 then some will be missing from 2010.

The problem how I see it Grockle even if you work out which photo will be missing off the old threads once they have deleted the ones above 500 allowed they are still going to be missing from the threads, it would be impossible to put them on the new site and edit the old thread with the new links to the photos.

The only thing that could be done is put them on my new site so they can be viewed on there. I have done that with most of the photos on the “Walk down memory Lane/Please name the players” Thread, I found them on my backup computer.

You may have to delete that thread if all the photos disappear from it.

I do hope I have explained that so it could be understood.

Yes I agree, that wouldn't be a goer as an exercise.

However copying them and archiving might be possible. I'll have to look at the possibility when I have some time at the end of this month.

I am going to add a link to “Photobucket” as my signature so you will have easy access to my photos I will ask Grockle if he can update the link in “Mike’s Gallery” I don’t know if he can add another link as well as the one for “Imageshack”

Tell me if it works for you, I have had it tested by a friend and he said it worked okay.

Thank you, Mike.

The link works OK for me.

Good work, Mike. Everyone enjoys your photos I'm sure.

One thing I would say is the quality of photobucket isn't that great. We've been discussing this on a photography forum I use. Flickr possibly offers the best quality but you are limited unless you go pro for £19.99 a year on the amount of uploads.

If you ever do get stuck I would happily provide you with some free hosting on one of our servers.

Re: Important news about my photos.
Mike TA1 16 March, 2012 12:03
Thanks Tumbles, I will keep that in mind.

So far I have had little trouble with ‘photobucket’ once or twice the page did not respond and uploading the photos was a problem sometimes but I got around that by using the ‘bulk uploader’.

Mike TA1 04 April, 2012 15:22
Just to give you an up-date ImageShack have so far not carried out their threat to delete all my photos above 500, lets hope they forget to do so.

Re: Important news about my photos.
Bobstan 04 April, 2012 16:56
Hush, Michael, there are spies everywhere, Or there will be soon according to the newspapers.

Re: Important news about my photos.
Mike TA1 02 May, 2012 08:39
Update.

Imageshack is now saying the photos in excess of 500 will be deleted on 1st June, so if I ignore the request to open a premium account they may still be there in twelve month time.

Do you think it's a kind of 'blink first' game Mike? Don't blink.

I like it when Grockle gives us stats for this site, here is my stats for Photobucket since February.

Files viewed 37,147 (photos)
Total Album visited 2,041.

Most viewed photo is one of Craig Overton (46) hitting four runs.

An update.

All my photos on ‘Imagestack’ are still there, so far their threat to delete a big amount of my photos haven’t happened.

On the new site ‘Photobucket’ the most viewed photo according to them is Benny Howell of Gloucester’s from the t20 match, it has been viewed 175 times he must have a large family.

Total files (Photos) viewed up until June 37,647

Good news so far, Mike.

It must be Howell's mum looking every day - or relations in Scotland perhaps, judging by his Scottish names.

Your finger clicking 37,147 times Mike??? Crikey don't you get finger ache, rather than back ache????

Old Boy, I am not sure I understand your post correctly, but the total number of files (photos) viewed is the total of time my photos have been looked at not the total of files (photos).

Sorry Mike!! I understand now! Put it down to insanity!!!

Re: Important news about my photos.

It seems that Imageshack has come to their senses, I log on today after not visiting their site for a long time and found out they have changed their policy of limiting photos to a maximum of 500 unless you pay for extra storage.

It now says I have “0.11GB of 5GB used” apart from one or two missing photos there still over 1200 of my photos still on the site.

It pays sometimes not to give in to pressure and pay up.

Nicely done, Mike.

Good on you Mike. Illegitimi non carborundum.

Mike TA1 07 February, 2014 14:18
Imageshack have told me by e/mail they are going to a all subscription web site, so I imaging that my old photos will disappear from their web site. Have no fear my latest photos on Photobucket will remain.

I am going to post more photos of the River Tone on Grockles other message board because they are not about cricket. (I don't want to get into trouble by posting them on here)

Thanks Grockle, I didn't want to push my luck.
I know you are not so fussy in the winter.

If I have anymore similar I will post them on this thread.

My photos taken of the flood water in the River Tone.

http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Nature/RiverToneunderPrioryBridge5thFebruary2014.jpg

I know somebody said the water wasn't so high as last year, maybe it wasn't on this stretch of the water but it was high enough to cover the footpath under Priory Bridge, taken 5th February 2014.

Part of the Firepool Weir with parts of trees trapped in the water taken 5th February 2014.

Full view of the Firepool Weir taken 5th February 2014

Below Firepool Weir showing how high the water was on 5th February 2014. I was taking photos two days earlier about ten feet down on the grass bank you can only see just a small portion of.

http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Nature/RiverToneFirepoolWeir2ndFeb2014.jpg

This is what the weir looked like to days earlier.

http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Nature/RiverToneTauntonbelowFirepoolWeir1993.jpg

And this is what below Firepool Weir looked like in 1993, although most of the vegetation is now gone and there is development on both sides of the River Tone the size of the Tone is not much different in size when the weather is dry.

River Tone looking towards the Firepool Weir 5th February 2014

Those who haven't been to that part of the river for a while will see a difference with all the flats being built between the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal and the railway line.

... and presumably all those buildings stand where water once was able to soak gradually into the soil and replenish the water table rather than having nowhere to go save towards the river. Just wondering.

And close behind those flats will be the new relief road,
from the Royal Mail sorting office in Staplegrove running along side the railway line, crossing the river and coming out beside the Dun Elm store...
