I can't find it either Mike - though I wouldn't have removed it.

Anyway it is probably time to start another one anyway so here it is.

I thought it was me trying to do a search and the search wasn’t working properly.

I will transfer the post to here.

The England Women have beaten India women in the ODI World cup.

... after surprisingly, narrowly and very excitingly losing their first match against Sri Lanks.

It seems to be all or nothing with these WI girls. 368 last time and 101 this.

Somerset lass Anya Shrubsole took 4/21, her best at this level, and Sky decided not to televise it. Mass protests among insomniac Somerset supporters.
(There must be milions of us).

What a truly magnificent achievement of Sri Lanka Women -starting from a position roughly equating to that of Bangladesh in the men's game - to beat both England and India and force their way through to the Super Sixes.

Great match between England and Australia today, with England failing by two runs to snatching victory from defeat with the help of a defiant last wicket stand between Colvin and Shrubsole.

What a marvellous and ultimately frustrating finish to today's game - and what a performance from our girl Anya.

I do think Charlotte Edwards slipped up in not bringing Katherine Brunt back sooner.

It must be all the more disappointing to come so close to winning with nine down.

Last wicket stand of 30 odd when the game was dead it seems. Always a shame when they come up short so close to the finishing line after a spirited attempt by the lower order.

(Well except when it's Australia playing us of course)

"Well except when it's Australia playing us of course."

The shame was that Billie Bowden made an incorrect decision.

Human nature and all that I suppose.

Can't see how it was incorrect CP - England won :-)

It was to me Grockle, for having loved the time that I resided there, I have to confess to being a 'closeted' Australian.

A very strong performance from Anya and all the women to thrash SA women convincingly. Keeps their hopes of making the next stage still a possibility.

Re: 2013 WOMEN'S CRICKET

Baffling cricket from the NZ 7th-wicket pair, who appear to be playing for a draw.
It looks as if the England girls will have to beat NZ by a big margin (as WI's net run rate is quite a bit better), and hope that Australia beat WI.

Re: 2013 WOMEN'S CRICKET
mikeindex 11 February, 2013 23:06
Actually the NRR is much closer than I thought - so it seems that pretty much all we need is for England to beat NZ and Australia to beat WI, as long as they're not both last-oiver finishes.
I'm sorry, but however much it benefits the England girls I cannot actively want Australia to win.

Item about Anya Shrubsole on BBC Sport site this morning - says she's had coaching from Warks' Graeme Welch - good to see.

West Indies beat Australia, meaning that England cannot reach the final. That rather takes the stuffing out of today's match against New Zealand.

Doubt very much that the Aussies are too upset about losing.

Re: 2013 WOMEN'S CRICKET
Sloop John B 13 February, 2013 15:28
Is Anya Shrubsole injured? She hasn't bowled yet in the NZ innings.

I hope West Indies go on to become the Champions.

Re: 2013 WOMEN'S CRICKET
RadstockRob 13 February, 2013 15:38
She was suffering from a migraine yesterday and the commentators think that they are not risking her as the game is not significant.

Re: 2013 WOMEN'S CRICKET
Loyal of Lhasa. 13 February, 2013 16:57
I certainly hope Anya Shrubsole's headache clears up - but the game only became insignificant AFTER it had started.

Anya was on the balcony changed and ready to take part during the England innings. One can only assume the decision was made not to risk her between innings.

Re: 2013 WOMEN'S CRICKET
Mike TA1 13 February, 2013 17:10
I would have thought if Anya Shrubsole bowling was needed towards the end she would have bowled.

Re: 2013 WOMEN'S CRICKET
Mike TA1 13 February, 2013 17:20
I didn't realise she was off the field so she may not have been allowed to come on and bowl.

Re: 2013 WOMEN'S CRICKET
SheptonPaul 13 February, 2013 22:56
Suspect Aussies will coast to victory in the final - can't see them being beaten twice by the Windies women.

Congratulations to the Somerset women's team.
I watched some of the Somerset v Durham match and Durham was never in the match, they were always behind the R/R, a good innings by Sophie Luff in scoring 93no.

I would have posted a few photos but with no announcements being made it was hard for me to know who took the wickets.
somebody will supply me with a score card, when I get that information I will post some photos.

Somerset Women made it three championship wins in as many matches when they recorded back to back victories in their two games over the weekend. [www.somersetcountycc.co.uk]
