Are they keeping them a secret? No details on fixture list.

It's on ECB site - start on 13 April v Yorks at Taunton...

Glad we're not starting away in the North, as we normally mess those games up, with recent (over the past 4-5 years)early season away defeats to all of Durham, Yorks, Lancs and (from the north midlands) Notts.

I'm glad that DN is taking our lot overseas for some extended preparation.

I see we have five floodlit matches all away.

Middlesex playing a home game at the Oval must be worse for them than us having to play "home" at Bristol.
A lot of travelling For us between 4th and 6th July and again 11th to 18th July.

Bobstan 26 November, 2013 11:12
Slightly disappointing from a personal viewpoint that we play our CC1 match against Middlesex at Uxbridge rather than Lord's.

A visit to Northampton will be pleasant, though.

In regards to Middlesex's Twenty20 match v Somerset taking place at The Oval, Middlesex have written on Twitter "An increase in fixture load at Lord's meant we had to look at alternatives & a t20 at the Oval made the most financial sense".

Although I don’t think Lord's will be staging any more international cricket than in previous years, I think MCC will be staging more of their own matches there compared to other years to mark the 200th anniversary of the ground being at its present location. I know there will be a one-day match between MCC and Rest of the World on Saturday 5th July, although it doesn't look like they have made too many other arrangements yet. Another impact this has on Middlesex is that we will play six rather than the usual seven County Championship matches there, with Merchant Taylors' School a surprise addition to our fixturelist.

Personally, I don't mind The Oval too much, as it the facilities and view from the stands is generally better than at outgrounds, and the journey between there and my Wembley home is better than Southgate or Radlett, neither of which will stage 1st XI matches in 2014. However, I have no idea what my work situation will be like in June, so I cannot say with any certainty whether or not I will be working in a location handy for travelling to The Oval.

Bobstan - Yes... although I was thinking a few weeks ago that we had been fortunate in that we've had our game at Lord's quite a few times in recent years, whereas quite a few Counties have been moved to Uxbridge (which I think is normally a road).

I don't know if there's a some sort of rota system in effect so that everybody has to take their turn not playing at Lord's?

Or perhaps Middx requested that the game with us be at Uxbridge (which is usually a road), because they did not much like what our bowlers did to their batsmen earlier this season at Lord's....

SheptonPaul 26 November, 2013 12:22
Uxbridge (which is usually a road)* is much easier for me to get to than Lord's.

*has the name been officially changed?

Ah ok, so it is genuine then! I for one won't be complaining as I live in South London so this is perfect for me. I go to some of the CC games on my own but wife enjoys the T20 & although i was worried we'd miss many of the T20 games this year, we can get to pretty much all the away matches with ease, & still have a nice trip on a Sunday to Taunton for a T20 along with Arundel

Uxbridge (which is usually a road) is it's full name.

Usually shortened to Uxbridge for convienience sake.

Dead easy to get to.

5-10 minutes walk from Uxbridge tube station.

By road J16 of M25 on to M40 (which quickly becomes the A40) Then right at Swakeleys turn off- and first left. No sat nav needed. Practically impossible to get lost.

Beware of The Travelodge by Uxbridge tube station- It's also a bus garage, and you will be kept awake by the airbrakes of buses returning to depot throughout the night.

Fine if you are deaf though!

3 home championship games in the last 4 should give us a little advantage, with the flexibility to get rid of the heavy roller depending our league position.

Birmingham Bears *shakes head*

That's a tough start in the LVCC - a good start could put us on our way though.

I am wondering if Tractor can enlighten us as to whether, given that there is a ground called "Uxbridge (which is usually a road)", there is also a ground called "Bristol City Nil".

Middlesex are playing T20 games against both Essex and Sussex at Lord's on 17th May; an interesting experiment. I wonder what the ground entrance fee will be.

Re: 2014 Fixtures

The likelihood of Middlesex's decision to play their Twenty20 match v Somerset at The Oval being a financial success has been compromised by the football World Cup match between England and Uruguay being scheduled for 8:00pm BST on Thursday 19th June.

This leaves four options:

1). Play the cricket on the date and at the time (probably 6:15pm or 6:30pm) for which it is currently scheduled
2). Find another date when Middlesex and Somerset are inactive and no match is scheduled for The Oval (Saturday 14th June is a possibility)
3). Find another date when Middlesex and Somerset are inactive, and play the match at an outground
4). Start the cricket at around 5:00pm, then show the football on screens around the ground

Thanks, Chunkers. However, it hasn't been officially confirmed yet - by which I mean, of course, that it is still shown as 19 June on Tractor's fixture list.

Yep sorry about that Wickham...can't get the staff these days. Come on Tractor get it sorted!! You're giving our 'up to date' fixture service a bad name.

I know it's cold but you'll just have to put up with it and wear something over those fetching 'Somerset' shorts you like so much.

No, there was no delay. Any changes in the fixture list are officially announced via the official (Tractor) website. Any other stories (such as on the ECB or Middlesex CCC websites) are mere speculation.

True but he does get old and slow in the winter.

I think the cider thickens and takes a little more time to reach the parts it needs to.

Isn't the University match being played at the County Ground?

Re: 2014 Fixtures

Not yet, CH, but it will be April 7th (well spotted). I think Nos confirmed this a little while ago. Thanks. Older and slower, Grocks, but the cider seems as fast as ever getting around all the parts!
