Oh dear, noisy parties in your block of flats, Michael?

Jos 24* off 45 batting at six for Lancs, who are 221 for 7.

AGod 20 April, 2014 17:08
Out for 28. Quite a big collapse from Lancs after a good start given to them by Horton.

Oh dear. Did I hex him out?

Re: 2014 OTHER COUNTY NEWS

Lancs clearly did not fulfil their potential after the start that Mr Horton gave them......

Re: 2014 OTHER COUNTY NEWS
Grockle 20 April, 2014 17:43
At least he got to play for them.

Yes.

Essex have signed Jessie Ryder (I'm assuming for the T20)

Loyal of Lhasa. 22 April, 2014 12:11
I trust that means that the young man is sorting his problems out; he's too good a cricketer not to earn his living from the game.

Correction - Jessie Ryder will arrive in May and paly across all 3 formats. I guess its a good idea to keep him fully occupied. Idle hands and all that.

Maybe not a good idea to let Monty Panesar show him the sights of Chelmsford...

Re: 2014 OTHER COUNTY NEWS
AGod 22 April, 2014 12:13
When they're at full strength, Essex already have a pretty heavy-duty hitting line-up for that form of cricket and Ryder is another of that ilk.

Lancashire have signed Pakistan's Junaid Khan, who played part of a season for them a couple of years ago, for the T20 and 50-over competitions.

Bagpuss 25 April, 2014 12:19
Lancashire confirm that Glen Chapple will take over as player coach for the season, assisted by Gary Yates

I wish him well. A fantastic pro who probably deserved more England recognition than his one ODI cap.
In fact I think they picked the wrong Lancastrian opening bowler in 1995, but were too proud to admit it!!

Only joking "Digger"! winking smiley

Edit: my only advice to him and to LCCC, would be to change their minds about him keeping the captaincy as well. He'll need to share the load, IMHO.

No great surprise!!!

Think "Grizzly," might be in for a bit of wait after his less than stellar reign in Kennington!!

Chapple & Giggs! Fitting recognition of long-serving one-club Old Trafford stalwarts.

For a horrible moment, I thought I'd been retrospectively spirited away to some grotty cricket establishment in London !!

Yorkshire have tweeted that they are sending out a player on loan. Who and where will be announced tomorrow.

My guess would be the player is going to Northants, beset with injury problems, unlikely to be challenging Yorkshire in the CC and they've already played them.

As for who - maybe Moin Ashraf

Baggie-

It's a chap by the name of Dan Hodgson.

A wicket keeper going on loan to Derbyshire for a month.

Re: 2014 OTHER COUNTY NEWS
Bagpuss 26 April, 2014 23:54
Amidst all the speculation last night we failed to think of the obvious that Drbyshire needd someone with Poynton out. Though in circumstances I think it would have been better to just announce it rather than go through thee whole 'hey, we have some exciting news but we ain't telling you until tomorrow morning' malarkey

Re: 2014 OTHER COUNTY NEWS
Grockle 27 April, 2014 03:20
Can I surmise that this form of announcement annoyed you somewhat?

It might have been news, but 'exciting,' would be pushing a point...

Re: 2014 OTHER COUNTY NEWS
AGod 27 April, 2014 15:08
George Dobell muses that David Saker might get fired - and that Richard Johnson could be line for the role.

At least that should put a stop to messing around with Finn...

Re: 2014 OTHER COUNTY NEWS
chunkyinargyll 27 April, 2014 15:16
Proof is in the pudding.

Finn doing very nicely for Middlesex this season. Goes for a few more runs than some would like- but takes top order wickets through shear pace.

As soon as he was back with Johnson there was an immediate and rapid improvement- which can't have helped Sakers case.

No surprise then that, after sitting for almost three hours, the ECB pitch panel decided not to deduct any points from Nottinghamshire, despite their match with Warwickshire ending before lunch on the third day today on a wicket described by the panel itself as `below average`.

Now if that hadn`t been a Test ground, we all know what the decision would have been. Why, comments on the pitch for this match even stretched to praising the groundsman for the Test wickets he prepared at Trent Bridge in previsous seasons.

One rule for the cricket rich........

We don't know 'what the decision would have been.'

When was the last deduction;

A) anywhere

And
