"A long delivery stride."?

A bit too long by the looks of it.

Perhaps Mr. Jones will remedy that before he signs for Warwickshire?

Yasir Arafat, who did so well for Somerset in the T20 competition last summer, has joined Sussex for the third time for this year`s `bash`.

Yasir, the leading wicket-taker in England in this format, has now played for five counties.

He's a 'multi utility' player it seems. I think that means 'bloody useful' in English

Unless Yasir is also Sussex's main overseas player (which he cannot be unless Magoffin no longer counts as an overseas player) then what are they going to do with him betwixt Friday night games?

Will he have a deal arranged with a local club or something?

If not, it's tough to imagine somebody being able to just rock up every Friday and play really well with nothing but nets (or leisure time) in between?

But isn't that what's they do in the IPL, Big Bash, etc?

He lives in Kent, apparently...

I think you could wake Arafat up in the middle of the night, and he'd still be able to bowl you six yorkers.

Living in Kent he will be well situated when Kent and Sussex are merged under Lord M's plan!

Ireland not doing so well in the Caribbean 50-over tournament, but George Dockrell was presented with his 100th cap for Ireland before the start of last night's match against Jamaica. 100 matches and he's still just 21!

I see from the SCCC site that the 2001 Champions Dinner went well.

Nice to see a photo of most of the team (I guess Peter Bowler was behind the camera ?). Don't see any mention of Graham Rose though.

Looks like IDB is enjoying his culinary skills in retirement !

Wonder if they invited Mr Boswell as honorary guest for the evening ?!!

Hard to conceive of how a do like that could not have gone well!!!

Good to see Rob Turner happy to be involved, though, after the club's stupidity in terms of his departure.

Is that PB ?

I mistook him for Jamie Cox !

Wasn't Jamie on the TV just the other day for the T20 series game in Hobart?

I thought it was him.

Looked like him.

Game was in Hobart so would make sense as local knowledge etc.

And he kept talking about Scoreboard Pressure....

Did not have grey hair.

He does do some broadcasting stuff in Australia so quite likely I should think.

If you didn't see Countryfile this evening you missed the delightful DRW Silk. He was talking about his great friend Siegfried Sassoon.

Re: 2014 SCCC PLAYERS OLD AND NEW
Clarence Parker 03 March, 2014 10:51
Yes, it was a delightful and very moving interview, Bobstan.

I treasure a cricket book in my possession which once belonged to Siegfried.

Re: 2014 SCCC PLAYERS OLD AND NEW
Bobstan 03 March, 2014 15:11
That is certainly something I should treasure, CP.

Even now Silk has about him an air of quiet but sympathetic authority. I should have thought that being a pupil or a staff member at Radley during his time as boss would have been a good experience.

Dennis Raoul Whitehall Silk played rugby for Bath as well as holiday cricket for Somerset. It seems somehow appropriate that someone with such a marvellous name was born at Eureka, California.

He is a former Chairman of the TCCB and former MCC President.

Was he not also headmaster at Kings Bruton - or have I confused him with somebody else?

Hubert Doggart of Sussex and England perhaps, SheptonPaul.
