I did think that, also. There was some (unresolved) debate on these pages about whether or not Nannes counted under an EU passport (Dutch, I would think).

In which case somebody else could be added to Ingram. However, there would be no point adding anyone who already has a deal for the T20 comp in the Windies.

I don't think Dirk would agree to that unless he no longer wants to participate in the BBL as a domestic player.

Is it not a bit late in the day to bring in another T20 player based on our standing in the table?

Probably. TG looks like a decent signing at the end of the season to replace/add to alf or Kirby, but not particularly needed right now.

I'm all for Tom Graveney joining Somerset - and I know Bobstan, for one, will agree.

On 18th June, Newell DOC at Notts said he was taking stock on an overseas option.

A post on the Surrey board on 17th June says TG is Somerset bound so it must be true!

Re: 2014 SOMERSET RELATED NEWS
Bobstan 20 June, 2014 16:10
Nickname TG - how on earth did they manage to come up with that? Clever, though.

I'm not totally convinced that Tom Graveney would have wished to come to us, much as I should have loved that - assuming that Graeme Pollock is unavailable, of course.

I don't have the wherewithal to check this, but my feeling would be that TG's stats have markedly improved in the last 2/3 seasons...?

What about Tom Goddard, Bobstan?

TG? If he comes to Taunton I will forever know him as Pips.

Tim Groenewald has said that he will leave Derbyshire at the end of this season.

Should he indeed join Somerset, why would the county choose today to make such a premature announcement?

Re: 2014 SOMERSET RELATED NEWS
chunkyinargyll 20 June, 2014 16:41
Because Welch who is in charge at Derbyshire has made it plain he won't pick Groenwald for the firsts again.

May as well save 3 or 4 months pay and let him go now.

Re: 2014 SOMERSET RELATED NEWS
Bagpuss 20 June, 2014 16:42
Since Groenewald made the announcement Derbyshire haven't picked him.

I suspect if another county came along Derbyshire would happily release him from the remainder of his contract (and their financial obligations to him) although this could be technically a 'loan' arrangement

My thoughts also Bagpuss.

But we shall soon know who it is.

It took me ages to work out your TG Pips, Baggie. I plead old age.

When I say ages I mean around ten seconds.

CONFIRMED.

With this three year deal for TG, it likely to mean no new contracts being offered for a couple of our existing players
Dibble and Steve Kirby.

Well we need a bowler and he's definitely a bowler. Good news. Takes the pressure off a little as well.

What's the off-field issues he had at Derbyshire?

Re: 2014 SOMERSET RELATED NEWS
Slow left 20 June, 2014 17:26
Sounds like he just announced he wanted to leave at the end of the year, so they told him to clear off? Bit harsh!

Re: 2014 SOMERSET RELATED NEWS
Roger ivanhoe 20 June, 2014 17:32
I think the off-field issues are/were more to do with the club finances and management.

Now there is a new Word.

Re: 2014 SOMERSET RELATED NEWS
Grockle 20 June, 2014 17:48
Was he the mostest wantaway?

Do you reckon we can consider sorting out the photo at the top of the page now Mike? I've gone to do it about 4 times and they keep announcing changes or additions.
