Traffic northbound out of Somerset has been horrendous all day and the Somerset team coach is still crawling its way to Nevil Road. Ten miles to go at last tweet.

The start time has been pushed back to 7pm.

AG that 'joke' wasn't particularly funny the first time it was used and hasn't got any better through the many many other times you have rolled it out as something 'original' to say. Need some new material dude.

Half an hour ago when Anthony Gibson arrived the only Somerset representatives at the ground were Matt Maynard and Steven Davies. The coach 🚌 has now arrived, awaiting news of a start time.

We were at the Stragglers between about 12 and 1 today and there were players about. I have to say that they were mostly people I would not expect to be travelling. Marcus, Jack and a twin I assumed was Jamie from a distance.

Then when this story did come up I did remember that Lewis and Jason Kerr were in the coffee shop. You wouldn't think anything of it - train here then move seems simple until you then read the stories of the traffic problems. This side of Weston, trips to Bristol can be nightmares if the traffic starts to back up.

I really think we should be opening with Myburgh, to give him as many balls of the power play to bat as possible if he batted for all 6 overs of the power play we'd get some pretty big scores.

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
Nailsea_Fizz 04 August, 2017 20:17
Well he batted for 5 today and we haven't. As always with T20 is all a bit hit and miss.

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
Dave65 04 August, 2017 20:20
Myburgh batted for less than 4 overs of the power play

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
Grockle 04 August, 2017 20:52
Why is there any question that he is a valuable player?

Northerners need 42 from 30, could be tight, they're favourites I think.

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
Scrumper 04 August, 2017 21:51
Not so tight.

All a bit of a mess unfortunately.

Traffic can't be helped, but makes you wonder why we didn't travel up last night.

Cost I guess.

Another pasting. We don't very often get the better of Glos on their home ground. All rather depressing.

A glass half - empty or a glass half - full?
Regardless, both glasses need filling up.

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
Grockle 04 August, 2017 22:10
Brilliant definition of 'pasting'. You really don't like or really understand this format do you Tom.....(smiley face).

Well done to the Bristolians. Let's try and give the Brownhats a little more of a 'pasting' than this on Sunday.

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
Tom Seymour 04 August, 2017 22:20
Yes it was a 'pasting' by any knowledgeable persons standards.

Glos had only lost 3 wickets and had balls to spare.

You don't like losing do you? You need to get used to it.

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
Grockle 04 August, 2017 22:33
And you like it far too much...as long as it is Somerset doing the losing. We lose because we don't play as well as the other side. I'm fine with that but I know T20 and you just like overstating problems for effect That's the only difference.

If you don't score enough and don't take wickets you lose. The scale is not an issue unless you lose by a lot of overs in short time. We didn't. We simply lost.

A T20 'pasting' is a whole much worse than this Tom... need to keep up if you are going to comment on this 'non cricket' as you call it.

Why DO you bother commenting on this stuff in the first place as you downgrade it so much? Surely this is below your mighty cricketing intellect?

Why show how little you understand of the shortest format?

It's like grandad talking about the Sony Walkman trying to be 'down with the kids'.

Always a bit of a lottery these T20s, when is this Pakistan guy available?

When his visa is approved it seems. Could be soon or not. Ain't cricket fun.

A close finish to the match a few more runs were needed, too many batsmen didn't score runs.

Re: GLOS v SOM T20

Why was there such a total lack of atmosphere at Bristol tonight?

Obviously Somerset supporters had little to cheer, apart from a handful of long distance sixes from Myburgh and Craig O. However, there seemed a total absence of interest in proceedings from the Glo`shire fans in the sell-out crowd, whichever side was batting.

Even the balconies on the flats, which were jam-packed before the advertised start time, were empty by the time Klinger and Mustard went out to bat. I thought Love Island must be on TV, but it is not listed in the Radio Times!

This isn't cricket, can't wait for 2020.

And, once again, Mybs made a total ass out of Matthew 'I didn't sign him so I'm not going to play him much,' Maynard.

Very good efforts indeed from Mybs and Cove.

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
AGod 05 August, 2017 00:31
Wasn't a joke, Grockle.

Matthew drives the bus sometimes, does he not?

Re: GLOS v SOM T20

8 hour round trip & huge detour, added to the result not my best Friday!
Batting was poor. Mybs again looked awesome, just no fear this year, see ball smash ball, simple.
Some odd dismissals especially Tom & James. Rvdm a bit unluck.
Gronners coming up given start we had made seemed odd!
Craig & Max superb to getvus something but needed 160+ to stand a chance.

As so often to that ground, awful class of supporter! Mindless clowns on a Friday night drinking session. Shouting rubbish at players they had never seen before. Police & stewards around doing nothing.
10s and 10s of coppers there. Riot van parked outside the gates, so glad we never have to see this at HQ.
Many on here & elsewhere moan about lots to do with our club but the grass so is not greener elsewhere.
We have a fantastic core of young players a beautiful ground, superbly well run profitable club, huge support, home and away.
Yes we are in a bit of a pickle currently but you wont find me swopping Somerset/Taunton for Bristol or Cardiff anytime soon!
Lets all get behind the club and players and finish the season strongly.
Still a very realustic chance if T20 quarter with 3 of last 4 at HQ.
As for champo i have all fingers and toes crossed Dom&Jack spin us 2 home wins then we pray for Jamie&Craig to win us 2 away ones.....

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
AGod 05 August, 2017 08:10
And that's what the citizens of Bristol have to look forward to viz franchise cricket... mindless drunks, riot vans etc etc

Saying that I'm assuming that Bristol and Cardiff will share the games.

Re: GLOS v SOM T20
Grockle 05 August, 2017 08:25
Yes.... of course you were being entirely serious EVERY time you have referred to MM driving the coach which you have on more than one occasion .

Well if that is the case AG. You serious discussion of this important matter has been lost on your audience. People think you have been making a series of quite hilarious jokes which have probably run their course now.
