LoL told me that Kortright was the fastest bowler he had faced.

Old Korters was a bit nippy, but I had the reflexes to hit the ball after it had passed my wickets and skim it down to third man or long leg. Problems arose if it didn't pass my wickets...

Durham's problems show no signs of ending.

Burnham fails drugs test, and is banned for a year.

I was offered the chance Bobstan and I'm happy to live with the legend that I did but I'm not daft.

My batting skill versus the chance that Rooster got one on target? I'm not brave enough for that under any circumstances.

I watched a game where he got it right against Notts - Tim Robinson didn't see the three he got and the last one took his stumps. He and Kev Shine I believe took the Outlaws apart.

It was a great shame that just as the radar started to work the back didn't. How ya doing AVT? He was working in Holland last time I heard.

I saw a one day game vs Notts in which he destroyed them, albeit they were batting second in pursuit of an impossible target (Lathwell 117). One of his victims was Paul Johnson,

Joel's Yorker would have been unplayable in T20, sfwithers. I think we can be sure of that!

It never rain – will bad news ever end for Durham.

A desperate year for Durham has just got worse, after Jack Burnham, their promising young batsman, was served with a one-year ban from cricket after failing a drugs test for the third time. [www.espncricinfo.com]

I've never understood why people feel the need to mess with drugs, especially those who have immense natural talent.

It all seems such a needless waste.

You're just hopelessly and irredeemably old-fashioned, Grizzzly, and know nothing of being down with the kids. If it's any consolation, I'm in exactly the same boat.

I've managed to stumble into my eighth decade without ever knowingly taken a proscribed drug - or feeling that I have missed out by the inexperience thereof.

I should also say that I do not understand why a grown man in his late twenties, with a wife and a child, needs to be in or close to a nightclub in the small hours of the morning, especially a professional sportsman still involved in a current contest.

Just wait until the liberals manage to get hard drugs legalised. All the kids will be at it then.

Whilst the Daily Mail and its readers still have breath, Cricket Harris, then we will be maintaining the senseless 'war on drugs.'

I know Bobstan better than you do, Grizzzly, and can be sure that when he says LoL is not old he means that LoL is ancient.

Ancient of Days, pavilioned in splendour and girded with praise, as he was after every innings he played.

Incidentally 'Pavilioned in Splendour' is one of the better cricket autobiography titles, that of Tom Graveney. I can't speak for the contents of the book as I haven't read it.

Curiously, book titles are not subject to copyright. The cricket writer A A Thomson wrote a beautiful book of cricket reminiscences, published in 1956, under the title that Graveney was later to appropriate.

Next time I see young Bobstan I shall lend him my copy and compel him to read it, for which he will be greatly grateful.
