Yes you are right Roger - all the Lewis vibes seem very positive.

Although Jim will have been talking to Anthony, the rest of the media will have been there as they go across and do all the interviews together so the locals and Cricinfo plus other national paper journalists will have been on the edge listening if they were at the ground that day.

Taking 2, hearing another 2 and making 5 by someone I think was the result of all that .

I don't watch much television, but I do enjoy my Saturday evening Scandinoir. Yesterday we watched the final episodes of Black Lake, billed as supernatural horror but actually high comedy as the protagonist insisted on diving unaccompanied into cellars where only very recently their chums had been assaulted or killed I noted that one of the producers bore the good old Swedish name of Jonas Overton and wonder whether SCCC should try to recruit him to inject some humour lest 2018 turns into a horror show,

Well said Marcus.
What a nasty little man David Warner is, and what a searing indictment of Australian popular culture that remarks like his go down so well there.

Marcus seems to have found a diplomatic way of saying what I also believe to be true - we are likely to get a hiding Down Under.

As for Warner? He was, rightly, derided as 'an idiot who travels the world in search of unsuspecting villages,' in the Evening Standard in the wake of that comment.

Not all that different, surely? Hasn't filled out too much, unlike some of us.
Or is it the smile?

Maiden 1st Class century for Ed Byrom back in Zimbabwe. Congratulations, though at what point does he become an overseas player? Must be very close to the Zim Team already.

I like Marcus's description of the England Ashes tour as "quite tricky"! Yep, might just be...

Not much of a one for overstatement, our Marcus (not unlike David Gower, who Rory Bremner once said would describe a sightscreen as "not the darkest piece of wood I've seen"). His - MT's I mean - going so far as to describe Warner's comments as "pathetic" is quite an indictment.

More on the "New" side of this thread's title, some of our youngsters are apparently being identified as possibles for the future:

I have to confess I'd never even heard of Fin Trenouth, though there seems little room for doubt as to which county he hails from.

Regardless, both glasses need filling up.

Reference the quote about David Warner, I do remember saying about 4/5 years ago before he had established himself in the long game, that he would turn out to be one of the best batsmen the Aussies produced. Those comments were ridiculed by one or two very "important" Grockles as rubbish. They know who they are!!

Possibly fake news, but someone with high connections with the club has been suggesting to a 3rd party that the club are actively pursuing Kane Williamson as our overseas player for next season.

What is New Zealand's itinerary for 2018, is he the current NZ captain and where would he bat in the order for CC cricket?

I very much respect the reported source of the news (not many about whom I can say that) but it is only a rumour and it may have been conveyed mischievously. Even if it was true, nothing may come of it.

Any other rumblings in the background?

That's the rumour I've heard from more than one source over last 2 months Tom.

Second and final Test NZ v Eng finishes 3 April. Not sure of NZ schedule beyond this off the top of my head.

I've also had the name bandied about.

Bloody hell, the mate that Tom sits next to who knows a bloke who knows a bloke who heard it in a pub may be onto something for the first time.
