I agree LoL - I think England look the better overall side, just underprepared in the first match after warm-ups were rained off, then bad toss decision in the second.

Four women's T20 games over 2 days at Taunton next summer (20th and 23rd June),three including England. Intestingly free to club and both club and T20 members, but T20 only members will have to pay.

You would have thought this would have provided a bit more incentive to people considering buying a T20 membership

That was a thoroughly brilliant win by the England Women today and they end the drawn series on a high, having lost only one of the last five matches in the series. In my view they could well have won the Test Match, had there been a fifth day.

Agree LoL, tho I think the game that got away was the first ODI when they could still easily have won it despite going in under-prepared after their warm-up games were rain-ruined. Anyway, virtually nothing between the two teams.

The Aussie Channel 9 team are getting huge stick after stating there are no women commentators in the Ashes series because they only use people who have been in the competition they are commentating on

Seems Mark Nicholas got a bye from that rule and it didn"t seem to stop Ian Healey commentating in the Women's version. Typical Aussie media is the comment. They may have misinterpreted the backlash from those who now follow Women's cricket at the top level.

I have been immensely impressed by the quality of commentary and entertainment provided by the handful of female commentators we are now privileged to listen to. Ebony R-B is a joy, Alison Mitchell thoroughly professional, Isa Guha insightful and amusing, as are the various Australians we have heard recently. Isa Sthalekar is paAnrticularly pleasing on the ear and Mel Jones is another serious professional. Charlotte Edwards always has a light and friendly touch, though the art of summarising appears not to come easily to her. However, she improves from match to match (reminding me of how Lineker matured into a seriously good broadcaster after a rather tentative start).

And there is not a curmudgeon among them (it takes one to know one, according to Bobstan).

My favourite sports broadcasters (commentators, summarisers, whatever) have long been John Arlott, Peter Alliss and Eleanor Oldroyd. Aside from her being an Arsenal supporter, Ms Oldroyd knows a heck of a lot more about our game than the majority of male commentators (many of whom have played a lot of Tests, though you'd never know it).

So she jolly well should be. And I am sure she is not guilty of landing her private aeroplane on Lundy Island just to avoid tax.

I suspect Mr Hamilton saved more money just in VAT on his new shiny boy toy than Anya will earn in her playing career

Thoroughly deserved by both of them. I doubt that many honours will be doled out to the men's team in the near future, though within five years we shall probably hear "Arise, Sir Alastair!"

Very deserving winner. When you've done what she had, to think of other players literally moments after shows a special level of character.

Western Storm have signed Smriti Mandhana as one of their overseas players. I think she will be the first Indian to play in the Kia Super League. She made a glorious run-a-ball unbeaten hundred at Taunton last summer opening the batting against the West Indies in the women's World Cup.

She is a very talented player with the bat. Beautifully classical at times but also very adaptable to conditions.

A quick membership question...
Club membership gives entry to 2 x Kia Super League Matches.
Which 2 are they (out of the 3)?

Scrumper - the ones that aren't the double-header with the men's T20 match ie not the one v Loughborough on Sunday 29th July (double header with men's T20 v Middlesex)

Those on Sunday 22 July (v Yorkshire Diamonds) and Thursday 9 August (v Lancashire Lightning) are the ones included with membership (of course, if you have T20 membership then you will be able to see the Loughborough match on the 29th as well)

Ok cheers Baggie, I guess they didn't fancy trying to kick out freeloading club members from the ground.

Don't the club want the Women's TRI-SERIES cricket at Taunton?

The reason I asking is because leading up to today I have seen very little details of the event.

Yes they did have something on the clubs website about a community event a couple of days ago but that was all I could find about the match details.

I always support the Women's cricket whenever I can, I even had several people ask me yesterday if I would be watching and taking photos. I told them I would be there.

So I went home and tried to find out on the clubs website the details of the start time of the matches, there was nothing! So off I went to find out from the office, on the way I met Sam the catering manager luckily she had a print out of all the times with her, what I wanted to know was the start time of the first match, it was later than I thought it would be.

Goodness knows what time it did appear on the clubs website, I couldn't find it at 6pm but I did find the details at 10pm.

I hope it is well supported today.

Seems to be. A large group of students from one school were disembarking from one bus when I walked past and the place looked very active.

It is all a but hand to mouth. I applied for press accreditation for the games this week I didn't get any info about today either way but I have been told I am in on Saturday. Today. How are Somerset supposed to organise themselves when info is going to people mid week for weekend games?

I spent as long as I could endure at the two games today. What a dreadfully boring game, T20 is. It shouldn’t be called cricket as it is a travesty of the great game. Make all the fielders stand close to the wicket and just bang the ball over their heads. Oh, wonderful, another four, even a six. And it goes on-and-on for twenty overs. Awful. It wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t last so long.
