Peter Trego interview

“In fact we have a couple of lads in our dressing room now, I will not name names, who look more comfortable playing a slog sweep rather than a forward defensive. It is crazy but it is so natural to them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“It goes back to the Test match ground thing. Angus Fraser (Middlesex director of cricket) was in a classic grumpy mood. He kicked off, it was Middlesex - Lord’s - against us. It was not that we did anything wrong that was worrying, it was who was making the complaint.

"The remarkable thing about that game was Fraser and Adam Voges, captain of Middlesex, went out on the pitch on day one, selected a team and did not pick the second spinner. Post-game they were saying there were holes all over the pitch and it was going to be a Bunsen, that it was doctored. Why on earth if you saw that did you not pick another spinner? Once again it was who was making the complaint that gave it so much traction. That was disappointing to see.

Your third quote Dean. There's the basis of your Ciderabad urban myth. It must be coz Angus says so '...and Angus is an honourable man...'. Or is that the urban myth?

Good stuff Trigger

What do we care what a failed England selector thinks?

Stuff him.

We don't.

But we don't live near Lord's and the people there are slightly more inclined to coz it's easier and nearer to what they are used to hearing in their South Eastern comfort zone which they think is the whole of important 'English' cricket.

I suspect that all the fire and fury around Fraser etc and the Taunton pitch is for a very understandable reason. A huge effort to make sure that not too many questions are asked about the failure as a Director of Cricket and England selector - namely our very own Mr Fraser! Angus - do us all a favour and retire to write your memoirs and hope somebody buys a copy.
