TG lbw was going down, IMO (appeal, I mean). Might have clipped leg on Hawkeye but decision fair enough, IMO

If no more wkts tonight, Warks will be favourites, IMO.

And not looking like a wicket imminent.

But can’t afford to have them 120 for 4 with ball 39 overs old, overnight, as the flattening out will continue tomorrow.

We must get at least one more tonight.

Probably need to get Craig back on for Tim.

Very Silly.
The first innings run out was unnecessary, but why take such a risk when you still have 5 wickets in hand, are approaching the close of play and remain with a reasonable chance of winning tomorrow as the pitch is easing?

Well done George Bartlett. We hit so infrequently when it matters. That one mattered!!

Yes, terrific from George.

I didn’t think that ‘catch,’ to Hildreth carried?

It most certainly didn't carry to him despite the daft claims from the two commentators

'Hildreth has dropped the match' I ask you.

In response to Rod1883 earlier, Notts have comfortably avoided the follow on and are still batting, whilst Kent, with two wickets remaining, are 8 runs from doing likewise.

Well, we obviously need to clean Hain up early tomorrow.

I think both Tim G and Josh Davey, despite some good batting, should be a little concerned that they haven't showed much penetration with the ball even on a pitch that, for most of this match, has been, as CJM put it "a pig of a pitch."

In Josh's case, I think he's gone wicketless?

We've bowled as a unit, and generally been pretty tight but the track will probably be a bit better, again, for batting on tomorrow.

I think Leachy may well prove important tomorrow. I'd be tempted to stick him on for the duration from the River End, tomorrow... there's still a little sideways movement in the deck, but nothing excessive and the problem remaining, when facing the seamers is some uneveness of bounce, tending towards high (rather han low), in its uneveness.

There was some talk of more cloud tomorrow, so maybe a bit more chance of swing?

If we bowl really tightly, but without huge penetration, then there's a very outside possibility of a second new ball being availabe, whilst they are short of their target, too. However, if they're going to get them, I'd think it would be down to Hain and Jeetan Patel, and the latter only knows one way to bat..

Currently a 49 run difference in extras conceded in this match - 67 by them, 18 for us. An incredible difference in such a low-scoring game.

Josh is wicketless but he hasn't gone for a lot which is the next best thing if you aren't taking wickets.

Somerset missed a trick in not bowling Jack Leach in the last 10 overs, with fielders crowded round the bat. Warwickshire were desperate to keep at least a handful of wickets in hand, and would have been in no mood to attack Jack.

The worst over of all was the last of the day, when a wicket would have been such a morale booster. Josh Davey sent the first four balls so far down the offside that Sam Hain didn`t have to play a stroke at any of them. Then, inevitably, he compensated with a legside full toss that even I might have steered to the boundary.

I agree with Agod. Bowl Jack from the river end for the rest of the match, and rotate Jack Gregory, Craig Overton and Tim Groenewald for the other end.

Well I'm backing an in form bowling attack to clean up 4 batsmen from a team sitting at the bottom of the table.

We need to get a start tomorrow just like today's. A couple of very quick wickets whilst everyone is fresh and rested, and the Warks batsmen haven't settled in again. I agree with the suggestions above - Jack at one end - lots of pressure on the lesser batsmen at least with close fielders, and rotate the other end. Hopefully Craig and Lewis can do it as the frustration of Jack being miserly at one end makes them take risks.

Agreed.

I felt T made a good call in bowling himself and making a breakthrough,, but the last few overs of the day were pretty tame and lacked the pressure that Jack would likely have brought.

AH at this evening’s q & a said he felt the Warwickshire batsmen (can’t bring myself to call them ‘batters’ !) had applied themselves better today and shown a bit more patience !

He was also careful not to pass comment on the pitch other than to say that we had to be able to win games to win the Championship, implicitly (at least to my interpretation) acknowledging that we have to take risks (with pitch preparation ?) in order to do so.

Absolutely not a shred of doubt.
Zero logic in suggesting a Warwicks win on a pitch which has produced 36 wickets in 2 days.
6 on day 1 morning session.
8 on day 2 morning session.
Most in form bowling attack this season against weakest batting line up.
Wasp says 1%.....

Not surprised, Grizz, that Mr Hurry had little to say about the pitch!

I doubt we’ll be ‘taking the risk,’ when - say - Ben Coad and Duanne Olivier, or Fidel Edwards and Kyle Abbot or Jamie Porter and A N Other come to bowl on it..

Warks had no chance when they came into bat and proceeded to throw it away. With only one going down this season, we're not going to witness a September tussle for relegation

Second day's photos, it feel like the third with all that has happened in these two day's.

https://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Cricket%20Photos/2019%20Somerset%20Cricket%20Photos/Specsavers%20County%20Championship%202019/Somerset%20v%20Warwickshire%20starting%2020th%20May%202019/Jeetan%20Patel%20ct%20Tom%20Abell%20bld%20Jack%20Leach.jpg

Jeetan Patel ct Tom Abell bld Jack Leach.
I thought Jeetan was on a suicide mission going down the pitch to Jack Leach. By the look on Tom Abell's face it look like he was going to catch the ball in his mouth but he didn't he used his hands.

https://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Cricket%20Photos/2019%20Somerset%20Cricket%20Photos/Specsavers%20County%20Championship%202019/Somerset%20v%20Warwickshire%20starting%2020th%20May%202019/Liam%20Norwell%20bld%20Craig%20Overton.jpg

It is hard to say what Liam Norwell was thinking when he was bowled by Craig Overton.

https://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Cricket%20Photos/2019%20Somerset%20Cricket%20Photos/Specsavers%20County%20Championship%202019/Somerset%20v%20Warwickshire%20starting%2020th%20May%202019/Liam%20Norwell%20bld%20Craig%20Overton%202.jpg

Liam was still thinking about it when Tom Abell and Craig Overton were celebrating.

https://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Cricket%20Photos/2019%20Somerset%20Cricket%20Photos/Specsavers%20County%20Championship%202019/Somerset%20v%20Warwickshire%20starting%2020th%20May%202019/Azhar%20Ali%20ct%20Will%20Rhodes%20bld%20Liam%20Norwell.jpg

Azhar Ali could only watch the ball going into Will Rhodes hands when he edged the ball from Liam Norwell.

https://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Cricket%20Photos/2019%20Somerset%20Cricket%20Photos/Specsavers%20County%20Championship%202019/Somerset%20v%20Warwickshire%20starting%2020th%20May%202019/Marcus%20Trescothick%20lbw%20Liam%20Norwell.jpg

Marcus Trescothick missed judged the ball from Liam Norwell he was out lbw.

https://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Cricket%20Photos/2019%20Somerset%20Cricket%20Photos/Specsavers%20County%20Championship%202019/Somerset%20v%20Warwickshire%20starting%2020th%20May%202019/Craig%20Overton%204%20runs.jpg

Craig Overton tried to play a few shots like this four.

https://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Cricket%20Photos/2019%20Somerset%20Cricket%20Photos/Specsavers%20County%20Championship%202019/Somerset%20v%20Warwickshire%20starting%2020th%20May%202019/Will%20Rhodes%20ct%20Steve%20Davies%20bld%20Lewis%20Gregory.jpg

This ball from Lewis Gregory is on it's way to Steve Davies thanks to Will Rhodes.

https://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Cricket%20Photos/2019%20Somerset%20Cricket%20Photos/Specsavers%20County%20Championship%202019/Somerset%20v%20Warwickshire%20starting%2020th%20May%202019/Dominic%20Sibley%20ct%20Lewis%20Gregory%20bld%20Jack%20Leach.jpg

Jack Leach managed to produce a edge from Dominic Sibley bat, he was caught by Lewis Gregory.

https://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/cricketphotos1/Cricket%20Photos/2019%20Somerset%20Cricket%20Photos/Specsavers%20County%20Championship%202019/Somerset%20v%20Warwickshire%20starting%2020th%20May%202019/Adam%20Hose%20lbw%20Craig%20Overton_1.jpg

Adam Hose out lbw to Craig Overton, that is twice in the match on 2 and 4.

Edit - Pointed out to me today there is an error on my post, Adam Hose wasn't out for the same score in both innings, it was 2 first and 4 in the second innings.
I have edited it.

I spent most of yesterday trying to catch the score and being convinced most of the time that we wouldn't win. From this position we should manage to get there but I still think it will not be easy. Still, following Somerset has never been easy so why should it suddenly change. The clips I caught last night showed some good stuff

Always very good pictures, thank you Mike, but exceptional timing to get Patel's slog on its way to Tom Abell. And Rhodes is playing SO far in front of his pad! Every coach ever would hate that photo.
