I am sure Sussex has many places with strange sounding names, and that is where Luke Wright will remain until at least 2015.

Re the Women's Institute, the best one of all is at Ugley in Essex (?), which is the only one officially allowed to call itself the 'WI of' anywhere!

Piddlehinton in Dorset reminds me of the river Piddle on which I presume it lies. Also, of course, Tolpuddle, which is a cleaned up version of the name. Would the Tolpiddle Martyrs be taken at all seriously?

The river has its own cleaned up name, as it is also known as (yet another) Trent. Tghe list omits Piddletrenthide.

The area clearly likes to live on the edge of disgusting residents of Tunbridge Wells, as Britain's most uninhibited ancient monument is not far away at Cerne.

Although they couldn't afford to keep Chris Taylor, Gloucestershire have agreed an extension of Will Gidman's contract which will keep him there until 2014.

His performances were so good in 2011, that I voted for him as player of the season in a recent poll in The Cricketer.

As Marcus North will miss the first month of Glamorgan's season on paternity leave, Moises Henriques will fill in for him.

North would have missed most of that month with his smashed up finger anyway.

Worcestershire have signed 31 year old Tasmanian batsman Michael Klinger from the start of the season until late May, as Phil Hughes won't be available until then. He is thought to be the first klingon to play first class cricket.

I was looking forward to paying homage (Sm159) to Phil Hughes when Worcestershire come to Lord's in the County Championship in a match beginning on Thursday 3rd May, but I can't do that now.
