Surrey’s signing of Virat Kohli for at least three County Championship and three Royal London Cup matches will surely boost attendances at those matches. One of those matches is an RLC match v Middlesex at Lord's on Sunday 3rd June, while the other venues he will play at include Beckenham, Guildford and Scarborough, so those grounds will feel confident of a big payday. The match at Beckenham is an RLC match on Friday 1st June, so there might be some sickies called that day!

Warwickshire's Jonathan Trott will retire at the end of the 2018 season.

Lewis Hill has extended his contract Leicestershire until 2020.

We wish Jonathan Trott a successful final season in first-class cricket before his well earned retirement. He has played several major innings for Warwickshire and England across several different formats.

The evergreen Somerset batsman Marcus Trescothick (42) will be going nowhere for a while. He broke a foot during his recent century. We wish this swashbuckling batsman a full and successful recovery.

The London Evening Standard speculated in April that Middlesex’s t20 coach Daniel Vettori was scouting for a middle-order batsman whilst working in the IPL. However he has signed an experienced all-rounder Dwayne Bravo instead for the first six Vitality t20 Blast matches in July.

So,Virat Kohli is already as ex-mex even before raising his bat due to injury..oh well!
Suppose that means the Mexicans will get someelse in!

We expect so. Kohli's neck injury is expected to heal in time for India's Test series with England.

Their coach di Venuto had previously expressed an interest in signing either Steve Smith and/or David Warner in case Mitchell Marsh failed to recover in time.

Alec Stewart told a recent Surrey forum that signing Warner or Smith was not even being considered (as a result of the ball tampering).

At least common sense has prevailed. Somerset had already led by example when releasing Bancroft. It is right not to condone what had previously occurred.
