At Lancashire, Saqib Mahmood has extended his contract until 2020 and Tom Bailey has extended his contract until 2019.

At Kent, Adam Milne and Marcus Stoinis will play as their overseas players in their Twenty20 campaign in 2018, although Stoinis will only be available for their final nine group matches.

Chris Rogers will be part of Gloucestershire’s coaching staff for the first two months of the 2018 season.

At Leicestershire, Pakistanis Mohammad Abbas and Sohail Khan will share duties as their overseas player in 2018. The expectation is that Abbas will play for most of the season, with Khan filling in for any time Abbas misses due to Pakistan's tour of England

Due to injury to Sohail Khan, Varun Aaron will instead play as Leicestershire's overseas player for the period while Mohammad Abbas is on Pakistan duty.

And Elgar replacing the injured Mitchell Marsh for April and May. Always found him a bit of an Enigma myself. Plus rumours that Kohli might play for Surrey in a couple of matches.

Someone who hasn't been going anywhere in cricket for almost a year now but there was a very interesting article in The Times by Zafar Ansari on the various factors which led him to quit. Ironically his international breakthrough seems to have got him to the tipping point.

Someone has kindly posted the (otherwise paywall-protected) article on the Surrey site at
[ovalworld.freeforums.net]. Well worth a trip across to the Dark Side.

Somerset made a long-term decision with their faith in Tom Abell's captaincy potential. One's best captain may not be one's best player although it can be useful.

which is quite an act of faith when you consider that he has a first class average of only 29.75, and 3 centuries from 45 matches.

If he doesn't come good, that's a long time to show faith in someones potential.

At Derbyshire, Mark Footitt has signed from Nottinghamshire on a 28-day loan, while Wahab Riaz has signed for their first 10 Twenty20 matches of 2018. I am struggling to keep track of Footitt’s career, as he moved from Derbyshire to Surrey in 2016 in the hope of realising his England ambitions, but moved to Notts (where he started his career) midway through the 2017 season to be closer to his family, but has only made one competitive appearance for Notts since then, which came in August 2017. I heard last year that the young homegrown fast bowlers at Derbyshire weren't happy when the club decided to sign Harry Podmore on loan last season, and they will surely not be happy about Footitt joining a squad which includes Ravi Rampaul, Hardus Viljoen and Duanne Olivier.

Carlos Brathwaite has signed for Kent’s first four Twenty20 matches of 2018.

So,it's out then..Kholi is a Mexican for the month of June.
Nothing like helping out the opposing test side acclimatise before the series begins.
What happens to the salary cap??

I presume that they are not paying Mitchell Marsh, who was going to be their overseas player before he got injured.

For most counties I suspect it would be affordability rather than salary cap as such. We'd probably end up with e Coli.
