The manual scoreboard at the Adelaide Oval is said to show less information than modern electronic scoreboards. Actually, the Adelaide scoreboard shows the two teams’ line-ups, the analysis of each player in the innings, the fall of each wicket, and the result of the toss, which is more than is shown on many electronic scoreboards, including the scoreboard at Lord’s. And if Middlesex ever play a match at Adelaide, I’d imagine a row would be found to show how bad our over rate is!

That scoreboard gives me a headache. I'm probably biased but you can't beat Lord's. When I was at the Oval a few weeks ago I kept looking up at the board to see who had just fielded the ball out of force of habit, only to realise it wasn't displayed there.

Could you not look at the fielder to see who fielded the ball ?

Next thing will be names on shirts in CC , "Never happen at Lord's" I remember being said at Lord's about 10 years ago.

Headline on BBC website - "England hopeful Hameed breaks finger".

Not exactly an oxymoron but I would have thought only his immediate rivals would have been hopeful!

Automated announcement on TFL bus. " Please move down the bus the bus is about to move" . This made while bus is moving.

Kev

Think it was "please hold on as the bus is about to move". Usually played once the bus isd moving (as you say) or well before it starts moving. Changed recently to "please hold on while the bus is moving" which is more logical in itself but is off the point, which is to reduce the number of falls when a bus starts moving, which is apparently a significant problem.

I believe it has now stopped, as it was an experiment. I'm told the timing is based on the average time a bus is expected to be stationary at that stop at that time of day. Obviously set up by someone who doesn't appreciate that statistics is about variation, not (just) averages and that the average value rarely occurs (2.4 children, anybody?).

A couple of Sky favourites - Dockside Derbies.

Southampton versus Newcastle.

Portsmouth versus Plymouth Argyle.

Severnside Derby.

Bristol City versus Cardiff. I did'nt know Cardiff was on the banks of the Severn. Thought it was the Taff.
