Both deals done. 100% confident

Well, if you are right, my prediction is this time next year we'll be saying goodbye to Paul Stirling and Tom Helm.

All those years we used to criticize Surrey for buying success.

Steve Finn has said on the online commentaries he thinks Tom Helm will play for England.

Not sure why we even bother having an academy.

Don't get why you say that? Yorkshire have Sidebottom, Brooks, Bresnan, Patterson, Plunkett, Fisher and Willey. 7 seam bowlers
We would have Murts, TRJ, Harris, Footitt, Podmore, Finn( rarely ) and Helm. 7 seam bowlers
It's called having a squad and rotating it.

I first heard about these rumoured signings on the day three MTWD report of Worcestershire v Middlesex, although I would have taken the rumours more seriously had it been announced on a new thread such as this. On that article, I wrote the following two paragraphs:

There is a possibility that both Ravi Bopara and Mark Footitt will be moving this winter, as the most recent contract Bopara signed at Essex covered only the 2015 season, while Footitt is contracted to Derbyshire for 2016 but last month rejected an extension. I am sure that both would like to play in division one, although I am not sure how realistic it is that Middlesex will sign them, and thus I am not sure how seriously I should take these rumours.

I don’t think we will need another fast bowler unless we have some injuries or call-ups. However, I would definitely like Bopara at the club, as he can address two of our weaknesses, which are the absence of a true all-rounder and the lack of players suited to limited-overs cricket. Indeed, when I heard he was out-of-contract 12 months ago, I was very hopeful he would sign for Middlesex, so I am glad he seems to be back on the market again.

A Twitter search for Footitt suggests that ourselves, Surrey and possibly Somerset are in the market for him, with some suggesting we are favourites. However, a Twitter search for Bopara doesn’t contain as much speculation about his future, which is surprising considering he is out-of-contract at Essex if my calculations are correct.

Of course 2015 is Bopara's benefit year, so he will be doing 'a Ramprakash' which so upset many MTWD regulars.

Will spice up our next visit to Chelmsford, if nothing else.

You might want to revise your 100% confident post.

We've just signed James Fuller, so I doubt we would want Footit too.

Wanna bet?
Read the quotes on the website, Fuller is considered a white ball specialist

He has played 38 first class games.

He may be considered particularly effective in one day matches, but he will clearly expect to play a high percentage of our 4 day games as well.

Harris, Murtagh, Roland-Jones, Finn (occasionally)Fuller, plus Helm.

Don't need Footit as well (unless we are so rich we propose to play each of them for 8 cc matches only- plus players want to play, not be 'rested'.

Footitt is happening, I listed Yorkshire bowlers to you yesterday, it's a squad game.
38 FC appearances and he's 25. That's not a lot, hes a white ball signing

It's 2 and a half seasons worth, and like any young player it took a while to establish himself, plus, maybe Gloucestershire also 'rotate'.

If we've signed Footit as well that would be madness.(as in Tom Helm might as well ask to leave now)

It's one thing for a player to be seen going to Lords for a discussion. It doesn't automatically follow a deal has been done.

Don't understand your last sentence, as for Helm, I always find it odd that you have an opinion on these players you have never seen play.

If Steve Finn says on commentary he thinks Tom Helm will play for England that is a good enough recommendation for me.

Let's now just sit back and see who Footit signs for.

Edit- By the way I have seen Tom Helm play- not that I need your permission to have an opinion.

An absence of any posts from me during that match being an indication I was down in London watching the match. Bumped into Rogers and Out so he can vouch for me.

Bopara I'd go with very happily as I've been banging on about getting a decent all rounder.

Footitt I really don't see the need. We have enough pace bowlers.

We would welcome Footitt with open arms at Somerset.

Ravi Bopara gives Essex a huge boost by hinting he'll stay (less than an hour ago from the Daily Mail).

It would appear that Bopara's pitching for at least a share of the captaincy

Ravi Bopara is the Matt Le Tissier of cricket. No ambition

That sounds suspiciously like you realise you got it wrong.

I'm also struck by the fact that Fuller and Footit look quite similar.

It's possible someone saw Fuller, and thought it was Footit.

Anyway, sounds like Bopara is likely to stay put.

Still on Footit watch.
