Thanks for bringing this game to life, good read while we are struggling at Hants. I was away so I did not even have a Ceefax view of what was going on.

It is clear our specialist management team have no idea of capabilities of Simmo . who would have been ideal at 6 in this situation.

I guess the Warner Stand attendees are more likely to show some interest especially in a close contest. Unfortunately , around the ground in non members areas the spectators seem to thrive with the gimmicks regardless how close the game is.

I was there last night, and as a Middlesex and Arsenal fan it had a familiarity to it. There we were wiping the floor with Surrey, and then suddenly it was all being thrown away.
Like a true Arsenal fan I was planning to slope off early, but it was too exciting to miss a minute.
What an exciting match it was, great entertainment, I just hope this isn't as good as it gets as I have three more fixtures booked.
Not missing football at all

I was in the Compton stand and the fans there seemed to be indiscriminate as to who they cheered. They cheered Middlesex win, when only a few minutes earlier they had been cheering on Surrey.
Ceefax? Does that still exist?

Thought it was a done deal, the win, then the pendulum swung back and forth.
Finny to the rescue!

The watchers....bit of crowd looking to see what was happening etc.
You always get the members/followers of both sides (Not counties, that's the championship for me) who will watch and enjoy. Those who come along to watch a game and others for the social side.To our left was a group of 4,they sat and started to build the biggest ever seen pulled pork and coleslaw rolls.Washed down with a bottle or two of wine and then a box of massive cakes were bought from the bottomless bag! Don't think they saw a ball bowled!
Young lad in front of us,his father must of bought him a new England shirt,as he put it on OVER his Middle shirt..oh,how I cried inside!
The Warner stand....lots of space and room to move and the bar staff worked well to keep everyone moving. There are bare walls at the moment..maybe as an idea have past and present Middlesex players put up for all to see.Have some club history for all to see.
Still,a win is a win.Until looking at the scores tonight!

I think the razzamatazz. (spelling?) has been toned down a bit - no blasts of music to greet every single boundary, for example.

When the 9th wicket fell I did have a horrible feeling that the difference in wides bowled by the two sides might be decisive.

Bit harsh on ex pros hanging then from the walls of the Warner Beefy, some of them had excellent careers, mind you there are one or two I could think of that would deserve this fate, room for a Scott Newman anywhere ?

27k plus in on Thursday, the landlord must be chuffed and their bank manager will be seriously happy.

A decent game to listen to on internet radio though quite how that Church bloke holds down his job I do not know.
