Reference the incident at the Oval and the surrounding controversy.
It was reported at the time that a 35 year old man handed himself into a south London police station and was arrested and bailed to return at an unconfirmed date late in September as police enquires were continuing.
Does anyone know what happened next - was the case dropped/was a file passed to the CPS/has there been a court appearance or have the police just forgotten about.

I do find it bizarre that someone can get away with being that careless (at best) or prepared to put lives at risk (at worst) with no further action being taken, though obviously we do not have access to all the information that the police have. People who throw things onto a football pitch would not (if caught) get away so lightly.

I've seen the alleged culprit's Facebook page and he vehemently denies having anything to do with the incident. He claims to have a watertight alibi elsewhere and says the police made a mistake in arresting him. Obviously you can take that with as big a pinch of salt as you like, but I reckon it's fairly likely that he's telling the truth and the police have no idea who actually did it.

^ and never will have now.

CPS would never have processed the case to court anyway.
