For the last ball of the match, the main thing was that it didn't go for six, so the fact it went for four meant that at least Middlesex won, even though Hilton Cartwright catching it would have slightly improved our net run rate and the gloss of the win. Had it instead been four required, I hope that Cartwright would have found a way to have prevented the boundary, much like Nick Gubbins managed to do a few overs earlier when he was in a similar position. The thought hadn't occurred to me that Cartwright not making contact with the ball could have been a blessing in disguise and possibly a deliberate move on the basis that making contact could have resulted in him tipping the ball over for a six.

Steven Finn has spoken to our Audioboom page about this match.

Well,that was a brilliant game.
Ebbed and flowed, ups n Downs, and atmosphere to match.
Glammy followers thought they won it,the 6 Middle that seen thought we had it.
Gubbo fielding saved us 4 runs,or would of lost it.
2 fours in last over swung it in Glammys favour.
Yep,was best game I have been to in many years!

Not sure about the choice of music being played though...I mean.. AC/DC played between overs...

Steve Finn may have the asterisk by his name, but watching on Sky it was Eoin Morgan who was making the fielding changes, and talking to the bowlers.

Finn did the captain's interview at the end.

The female commentator mentioned Morgan as our captain. I have feeling Hifi was happy to benefit from his experience in this situation.

Winning 2 consecutive games is a pleasant surprise on current form but without getting to carried away the 2 teams we beat are yet to win a game and the team that beat us have lost their other 2 games.
If we can win 2 of the next 3 a play off place could be a talking point.
I have accepted that Cartwright is not a batsman in the CL and not a bowler in limited overs cricket so if we are sticking to 4 specialist batsman I would rather see James Fuller replace him and move Franklin (on current form) up the order.

After a decade of a mostly spinless MX team, at long last spinners were seen to have a role to play.

And credit to Finny for having the b***s to use them.

They took the top six Glammy wickets including the threatening Ingram/Lloyd partnership.

In short they won us the game. Glammy dominating most of the game and when the Ingram/Lloyd stand was in progress: we were not winning.

An excellent final powerplay for MX. We got outa gaol but well done lads.

Good piece of keeping(stumping) by Simmo to dismiss Lloyd which ultimately won us the game in the end as commented on by Rob Key.

It is encouraging that several spinners were used and that Finn has harboured a good team spirit. A degree of mental toughness helped the team over the line.

I guess that some commentators do jump to conclusions sometimes!
