They'll be searching you for sandpaper on the way in for this one.

It is a sign of the times that the tourist matches are seldom played as first-class. It will be a less expensive alternative to watching a one-day international with an added attraction of watching our own team.

It's always good to welcome our Aussie friends to a game on our shores.
Wondering what sort of side they will put out, hopefully we get a strong side ourselves.
Banter? I can't see there being too much of that,as nothing much has hit the cricket headlines from the convicts, sorry, aussies recently.
Didn't we beat a very strong Aussie side last time we played them in a one-day game?
Annual leave taken for this one, fingers crossed for decent weather and we give 'em a stuffing!!

We lost in 2010 despite having a Middx opening pair of DA Warner (whatever happened to him?) and Adam Gilchrist.....not our strongest bowling line up though.

We beat them in 2001 though!!

I also recall the 2001 victory. Tufnell was originally going to be captain for the match but withdrew in favour of Weekes. Hutton made a memorable 73 from a second wicket stand of 113 with Shah.

Our XI was: Strauss Hutton Shah Weston Cook Roseberry Weekes* Nash+ Keegan Hewitt Hunt

Upon checking ticket purchase details, over 65's tickets are £15 and under 16's are £5.
Our membership allows us entry on showing cards.
I think prices are set by MCC/Lord's,I may be wrong of course!

If yesterday is anything to go by be prepared for 20 minute queuing time, unless you are a MCC member who has nothing to do with Middlesex.

We all know that MCC members would never be knife wielding terrorists.

Our lot- not so sure.

Better safe than sorry.

I wonder what sort of side we will be putting out?

Out of respects to those that attend, it needs to be a reasonably strong side.

I would go- Robson, Stirling, Gubbins, Eskinazi, Holden, Scott, White (wk) Harris, Murtagh, Fuller, Patel.

Holden, Scott and Stirling to be the 'fifth bowler' between them.

It strikes a balance between having six players who are regulars, a couple of semi- regulars (Holden and Patel) a couple of novices (white and Scott) and the seldom seen Fuller.

At least that way we can't be accused of just putting out the second XI, it gives White a chance to keep in a first team match (although I suspect if given a choice Simmo will want to play) and it means those who have had nothing to do with the 50 over campaign (Robson, Harris, Murtagh) get back to first team action.

Couldn't quite find a place for Rayner (because of need to see what one or two others can do).

Not sure I'd play Stirling, for fear that instead of the minor injuries he seems to keep picking up he suffers one that will keep him out of more important matches.

Tom Barber might rap a few fingers if he can get it on the wicket.
