As we travel to the Kent County Ground at Beckenham for the 12th of our 14 group matches, we hope to avoid a sixth straight defeat.

Have we really got to play 3 more games? I can't bear it.

We remain pessimistic!

We played there and lost in 2008.

I'll give this a miss and save £25.

Kent still battling for a 1/4 spot,so will be a hard nut to crack, but the weather outlook doesn't look favourable according to BBC.
Will we keep with the same squad?
Only 3 more to go!

AS I think has been mentioned by another poster, DV in his interview, questions whether a overseas player for 6 games is a worthwhile expense.

A straw poll would suggest ' no and save' the dough methinks.

He also admits that JK Fuller has not been used correctly. ie carded at 8 in T20. Instead of in the top four.

Further to the above-

Is a specialist overseas coach worth the expense?

I will be in attendance at this match, so I hope that Middlesex don’t make me regret buying a ticket. My view of the match ought to be good, as I paid £5 more than the price of ground admission in order to sit in the stand.

The chances of rain are currently less than 30%, so a result should be achieved, which is good news for those in attendance, but bad news for those hopeful that there could be a no result to prevent our defeat tally going into double figures.

We might as well select one, two or three out of Max Holden, Nick Gubbins and Martin Andersson, unless they are injured or deemed in need of a rest ahead of the resumption of our County Championship campaign. Hopefully George Scott and Robbie White will both get another opportunity. However, I don’t know whether Daniel Vettori shares my view on team selection. Our line-up will probably end up being similar to that of our last few matches!

The first Twenty20 match I ever attended was this fixture at Beckenham in 2005, when we won by 20 runs thanks to Ed Smith’s 85. I believe the ground is more developed now than it was then. We also played there in the three subsequent seasons, but lost on each occasion, and have not played there since.

Malan, Barber, Eskinazi, Franklin, Fuller, Harris, Morgan, Patel, Scott, Simpson, Stirling, White.

So, Franklin keeps his place. No room for a promising youngster at his expense.

No Holden or Gubbins, yet Simmo continues to be in the squad eve though he will presumably not play. Very odd.

The article on Middlesex’s official website about the squad explains that the reason why Ollie Rayner, Max Holden and Steven Finn are not included is because they will play in a four-day 2nd XI friendly v Hampshire at the Rose Bowl which begins on Monday. I suppose that makes their absences easier to take than if we hear that they are injured or we see the players dragged around our matches without making the XI, although of course the latter fate may continue to befall John Simpson. I would have thought that Sam Robson and Tim Murtagh will play in that friendly, fitness permitting.

A lot of people often say that it is a good thing to have a settled side, although other people will say that if you do what you always do, then you will get what you always get. Our squad seems settled, as everyone who played on Thursday at Bristol aside from Finn is included, so going by the above logic, we will get what we keep on getting, which is a defeat.

Kent have named a 14-man squad for this match consisting of 7 Sam Billings (c/wk), 23 Daniel Bell-Drummond, 10 Alex Blake, 6 Joe Denly, 16 Zak Crawley, 58 Sean Dickson, 25 Calum Haggett, 4 Heino Kuhn, 20 Adam Milne, 1 Harry Podmore, 11 Imran Qayyum, 9 Grant Stewart, 5 Ivan Thomas, 8 Mitch Claydon.

The forecast for the hours preceding the scheduled 3:00pm start isn’t too great, but the chances of precipitation decrease after 3:00pm.

When the fixtures came out, I was interested in attending this fixture. Can't be bothered after our woeful run of results.

Worryingly, it looks like we might start on time.

Simpson plays, Franklin plays, White doesn't #planning for the future.

Kent won toss, and will bowl first.

189 - 7 in 20 overs, 71 off first 6 overs, but only 118 off remaining 14 - a tournament long pattern.

Kent need 49 off 29 balls, 5 wkts down with Blake & Dickson at the crease. To starve Blake of the strike seems key here.
