100 trials,and who cares?

These waste of time trial games start next week, and with Morgan England's white ball captain he will no doubt play and support it.
No idea who else is going to turn up,no idea how the games will be played and no idea if the public will be allowed to watch.

Apparently Morgan will be unavailable for next week's SCC match versus Derbyshire at Lord's due to his much anticipated "100 trial" appearance.

It appears that Chunky has also confirmed Morgan's unavailability under another thread. There was no intention on any duplication on my part.

Can just imagine the scenes before the trial starts....police close roads,as Graves and Harrison ride on horseback in Lady Godiva style to Trent Bridge.Following behind closely by the players taking part riding chariots.
They arrive at the ground, every seat taken by over enthusiastic 100 fans, all waving flags in unison chanting '100' as a lap is done of the pitch by the two idiots on horseback.

Not only are they not admitting the public but they are also banning the press.
What a farce.

I think they may want to practise 'scenarios' (so not every match will be a proper match).

As in- let's imagine you need 45 off the last 10 ball over (or is it two 5 ball overs from the same end, or two 5 ball overs from different ens- one bowler to bowl all 10 deliveries)

It's beyond ridiculous.

Only two counties (Notts and Lancashire) don't have a fixture, so if they want four teams there will have to be a lot of second XI players taking part (Morgan being an exception, because I doubt we complained about it making him unavailable. It means we can save face by not dropping him).

Anyway, as some of the players are likely to be 2nd XI standard, and they haven't even decided on the rules yet, I guess it's top secret.

The fortuity of practising the scenario of playing in front of an empty stadium is genius.

According to the interview with Gus post game we have not been asked for any players.

According to the TMS journalist panel podcast from the Oval, some press are invited for parts of the later days. None of em seemed to think it was a good idea.

Anything that keeps Morgan out of our team cant be that bad!!
Also not surprised we have not been asked to supply any players.

Gus does not seem to think that Morgan is unavailable

As it's only friendly nonsense, and there are still promotion and relegation battles to be fought, I don't think the ECB can insist on players being made available.

However, realistically we can't get promoted, and being able to explain Morgan's omission from our next game as being part of the '100' stuff could be a face saving exercise that suits us quite well, although in the post match interview Gus said he was unaware that Morgan might be playing in the 100.

Edit- posted at same time as Lifer, so hadn't realised he had also referenced Gus interview.

Think Gus is unaware of quite a few things!!
The club is an absolute shambles.

According to a poster on the Kent thread Beefy quote' the 100 ball caper is nothing to do with the grocer"

If true, he will need a substitute. Lady Godiva sounds acceptable.

Your last sentence sounds like ' Last Night at The Proms'.

Reported in the Telegraph that Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales will not be involved in the 100 ball warm up games.

The ladies went on trial yesterday, just read the report on the pantomime.
The game was over after 126 balls...lol
Bowlers had two 5 ball sessions (can't use over)from same end.
Within that, option of one bowler having two consecutive 5 ball sessions.

Gets worse, the more I read it.

I wonder who the two clowns could be in the pantomime?

Sounds much simpler than alternating 6 ball sessions from either end.

Following the behind closed doors trial at Trent Bridge I have been reading the rules of this farrago on the BBC website. It makes Mornington Crescent seem very straightforward!

T20 started needing to bowl 120 balls in 75 mins, that works out at a faster rate of balls/minute than this rubbish without the need for gimmicks to speed the game up.....
