In the latest edition of The Cricketer, it is reported that Stuart Law would like to bring in ex-Hampshire wicket-keeper Nic Pothas as Middlesex assistant coach. They have previously worked together in the West Indies set-up when Law was head coach and Pothas was fielding coach.

I am confident that Pothas could also double-up as a bowling coach, as I remember he dismissed Scott Styris when declaration bowling was required during the Middlesex v Hampshire match at Lord’s in 2006. That was a good match for Pothas, as he scored 102 not out and 74 not out, although the wicket of Styris was the only one of his career.

The Cricket Paper printed a full page article last week on Stuart Law.

He did mention that he would be able to handle the batting coaching that was required.

Tongue in cheek comment might add. If he played in MX T20 we might win a couple more games.

He also added that his recent employers the West Indies, may not be the pushover most media outlets here predict.

We shall see. Starts 2pm today on the Sky Main Event.

From a game at Worcester awhile back. Shannon Gabriel looke rapid.
