Given Dan Lincoln's prowess between the sticks for Bognor Regis Town, I wonder if we can concoct a team of players who have represented Middlesex and a football league team.
Obnviously it would not be recent.
I can come up with Denis and Leslie Compton, Don Bennett, Sid Russell and Patsy Hendren, but I am sure there must be others from way back. If we can't muster 11 league players then we would have to delve down into the rubbish like Bognor Regis, Crouch End Vampires and Barnet.

Steve Gatting played for Middlesex 2's quite a lot, without ever getting a pro contract.

Ian Gould was a goalkeeper in the unmentionables' youth team. If he'd grown a few more inches we might not have seen him in cricket.

This is a total guess, Kev, but Bill Edrich?

I've seen a programme for a Hendon youth team game that included Mark Ramprakash in the line-up but I don't think he ever played at a higher (or older) level.

After intensive research I have identified

Jack Durston (Brentford)
Len Dolding (Chelsea)
Joe North (Arsenal)
Walter Robins (Nottingham Forest)

In the halcyon days before professional football the following played cricket for Middlesex and football for England
Billy Moon
Morton Betts
Edward Lyttleton
Alfred Stratford
Cuthbert Ottaway
and of course the immortal Percy de Paravicini. What wouldn't we give for someone like old Perce now?

I'll be honest. I'd never heard of Cuthbert Ottoway,

Died aged 27.

Mike Gatting for Hendon. He was in the team line up in the programme for a Middlesex Senior Cup tie at Ruislip Manor in season 1976/77, and although I don't specifically remember him playing, he definitely played a few games for them that season.

Well remembered Rogers and Out. There is an excellent archive section on Hendon's website which shows that Gatt played around 14 games between 1974 and 1976 - and scoring a goal.

I think both Edrich and Compton played wartime internationals for England.

Dan Lincoln started at Reading. I think he was on the bench for league games, but did not play..

Fred Titmus played for Chelsea as a junior and
later had a contract with Watford, though I don't think he ever played for the first XI.

well, I still haven't worked out who died when he fell off a stepladder cleaning his windows (although I have identified a suspect) but I can add Geoff Morton to your footballers list
