So no sign of the injury curse lifting then! Losing Harmy to a freak injury was bad enough but now we have to manage without the captain, let us hope it's only for one match and good luck to Michael Richardson.

For the second match in a row we have started with an excellent opening stand, no surprise that DiVenuto is quickly into his groove but I'm delighted for Will Smith.

I see Anthony McGrath is back for Yorkshire, he's been a real thorn in the side on numerous occasions over the years.

Well done to Michael Richardson. Debut CC half century made when the innings was in freefall. If Tim Wellock is right the umpire was partly to blame for the shocking collapse.
We desperately needed the lower-order to dig us out of a hole and they did it. Richardson well supported by Borthwick and then a wonderful partnership between Plunkett & Thorp.
Must be a confidence booster to fightback so well from a potentially disastrous position.
