Vaughan & Harmison Out in Cold
By Site Admin
June 22 2009
England have left out both Michael Vaughan and Steve Harmison from their 'pre-ashes' squad get together, which means both are unlikey to feature in the upcoming Ashes series this summer. Harmison has one final chance to impress as he joins up with the lions squad to face the Aussies in early July, but the end of the road for Vaughan is almost certainly upon us.

Whatever we are doing with a 'pre ashes' camp i'll never know, but England felt it their duty to name a squad for it.

What happened to the old days of just naming your squad for a series, and being done with it?

England's team for the match with Warwickshire however on July 1st, is the closest we'll get to seeing what the final eleven could be for the Cardiff opener on July 8th.

England Test squad for the pre-Ashes camp:

Andrew Strauss (captain), James Anderson, Ian Bell, Ravinder Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Andrew Flintoff, Graham Onions, Monty Panesar, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Adil Rashid, Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann.

England team v Warwickshire at Edgbaston (July 1-3):

Andrew Strauss (captain), James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Ravi Bopara, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Andrew Flintoff, Monty Panesar, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Graeme Swann.

England Lions v Australia at Worcester (July 1-4):

Ian Bell (captain), Tim Bresnan, Joe Denly, Steven Davies, Stephen Harmisom, Sajid Mahmood, Stephen Moore, Eoin Morgan, Graham Onions, Adil Rashid, Vikram Solanki.

I,m quite amazed by the lack of Middlesex representation in the side,
Batsman of the calibre of Shah,Morgan, and Dexter, and quality bowlers like Udal,Silverwood,The emerging Finn and Evans and the brilliant Scott behind the stumps all have a part to play in England's reclaiming of the Ashes, rather than the tried and failed, and never to make it bunch of losers selected.
Outright County prejudice I call it!!!!
