You Again?! Redux

By Indian Cricket Fever

The ever money hungry BCCI has conjured up another Test series instead of allowing Indian players to participate fully in the Ranji Trophy, the premiere domestic First Class tournament.  What will this achieve?  India need to prepare for the more daunting challenge of facing South Africa in South Africa around the turn of the new year...  This series doesn't seem to fit the bill.  The only positive will be that Lanka having just swept Pakistan in UAE will not come in as the total no-hopers the shellacking they took from India in Lanka threatend to make them.  Anyway here is the schedule of matches

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the schedule of Sri Lanka's tour of India, 2017. The hosts will play three Test matches, three ODIs and as many T20Is in November and December 2017.

Once again the BCCI has shown its utter disregard for Indian cricket...

How else do you explain the scheduling of the SL series... which runs until December 24th... and is followed by a one 2-day warm up in South Africa on December 29-30...followed by the FIRST Test starting on January 5th?

If India manage to hold out for a draw in the first match it will be a miracle...most likely they will be hustled and humiliated before they can even get their bearings straight...no thanks to the UTTER IDIOCY AND GREED OF THEIR OWN BOARD

When was this tour chalked out? After Indian team came back from SL? In any case it does matter - even if it was planned a year back , South African tour was already planned. They should have thought about that.

I think the ICC futures plan had India playing Pakistan...but we all know that AIN'T happening... so BCCI went back to stand by "girlfriend" Lanka...smiling smiley

In the past the Stand by "girlfriend" was West Indies...

I was surprised to learn that Lanka has not played a Test series in India for about 8 years... and that in the meantime India has played THREE series IN Lanka...

But then Lanka have not ever won a Test in India...let alone a series... so maybe there is some logic to this...and also to the admonishing that the SL coach has for his team not to become "infatuated" with India's abilities...

This used to be what happened to India when they played teams like Lloyd's Windies or Waugh's Aussies in their backyard...good to see India now inspires that sort of AWE in the opposition...smiling smiley

Also the fact that Lanka just WHIPPED Pakistan In Tests in the UAE will give the Lankans some confidence and make the series a bit more interesting

India "Rest" Hardik Pandya... for the first 2 Tests... Rumor has it that Kohli may also "Rest" for some of the matches...

Lanka pull out Kushal Mendis and Nuwan Pradeep...
