Squads for India T20Is, Tests and ODIs upcoming

The Selectors have picked many players for the various upcoming Series.  On the one hand it is heartening to see the depth of talent available, and also to see that the BCCI is providing great certainty by picking the various squads so early.  But as the selection of FORTY odd players for the various series in England last summer demonstrated...just picking a lot of talent... but having poor planning in scheduling warm up games and also being a bit too rigid in later selection means that even with a potential bench of FORTY plus India still came out on the short end in both the ODIs and Tests... only managing to win the T20I series. The same mistake must not be repeated.  In a late breaking news it is now learned that the selectors have added Kedar Jadhav to the squad for the last 2 ODIs versus West Indies.  I guess his loud squawking about his being left out had the desired effect... though to be honest why he was not included in the squad in the first place defied logic. Also, a bit sad to see that Varun Aaron has not found a place in any of the squads... He did a stellar job for Jharkhand who reached the semi-finals of the Hazare Trophy, and it would have been useful to have a bowler with serious pace.(150kmph+) available for Australia in case the pace bowling needed to be beefed up.

Dhoni has been dropped from T20 squad. Hopefully Kohli will do well without him.

Dhoni not being in the T20 squad is not a big deal... he wasn't doing a whole lot in that format lately anyway...

Batting wise no. But captaincy and wicket-keeping wise he was helping Kohli.

If Kohli needs help with Captaincy after so many games... then maybe he shouldn't be the Captain...smiling smiley

Exactly. He should not be. You know RCB fate. Let Rohit be captain in LOIs. In Tests we need to find someone else.
It was a golden chance to beat England and South Africa in their own den, but look how he blew it.

I'll give him more rope in Tests... and ODIs...anyway NOBODY is going to replace Kohli in ODIs till World Cup...and if India win then maybe not till he retires from ODIs voluntarily....smiling smiley

In T20s they should pick Rohit.

Even if India win ODI World cup - it won't be because of Kohli's tactical genius. Dhoni is passing all the instructions while Kohli is fielding at boundary.
I find that embarrassing. It seems Dhoni is going to help till world cup and then retire. Team management is also playing along because there is no choice.

So you are suggesting a World Cup winning captain (assuming he leads India to title) will then be stripped of captaincy?... NOT HAPPENING...

But actually chances are high that India won't win this time... they are among the top 3 but I think England and SA have a better shot and bigger favorites

I am not suggesting that. I am just saying that Kohli is not doing captaincy in reality.

Who does he rely on for "Captaincy" in Tests? Dhoni has retired from that format...Maybe that is why he keeps bringing Rohit Sharma back....into Test side...smiling smiley
