Baby Photo Competition Results

Big Ups, Everyone!
By Ged
January 10 2010
Six brave people submitted their guesses for this competition and we have an outright winner. There were a few howlers along the way and no doubt many passive readers will be interested to learn who's who. Read on. Oh, and many thanks to everyone who submitted pictures and or participated in the game.

So, the baby photo competition comes to an end.

Six brave people submitted their guesses for this competition (what a timid lot most of you are, we had hundreds and hundreds of hits for this game) and we have an outright winner.

We received entries from:
Barmy Kev
Beefy Roberts
Big Perce Wath Main
Daisy
Jeff Coleman
Jonathan Winsky

Please note that only two participants, Big Perce and Jonathan Winsky, did not have their own photo in the competition.  So perhaps it is unsurprising that they share the wooden spoon with 10% scores.

But before announcing the winner, I thought people might be amused by a few of the howlers in the answers.  Almost everyone thought that picture H was Auntie Janet, whereas in fact it is a picture of Daisy.  I don't think you'd be at risk of confusing those two today.  The actual picture of Auntie Janet, picture J, someone (I think on the thread) described as looking like David Gower.  Daisy (who has met both people concerned) guessed that picture J was Barmy Kev!

Big Perce used an interesting strategy to try to get some marks, by putting my name down against several pictures, but mistakenly guessed that picture F (me) was Barmy Kev.

Everyone got Hippity right (how's about that) and of course Hippity did win the cute baby photo poll, by a whisker (as it were), over me (picture F).  More people recognised me correctly than anyone else (other than Hippity), although several got Barmy Kev right.

So, back to the results:

Barmy (Mr 10%) Kev actually managed 30% in this game - well done.

Daisy managed 40%, but had a bit of an inside track as she actually knew my photo as well as hers.

Beefy Roberts managed a very respectable indeed 50%

But the winner, with a massively impressive 60%, is Jeff Coleman.  Many congratulations.  A miniscule prize will be on its way to you as soon as I recveive your address, Jeff.

And many thanks to those who submitted pictures - here is the roll call:

Well done Jeff, must admit I thought pic A had to be S_M. As an outsider where is Kingsdown? Nice sandals but not sure about the socks as well.
Good contest Ged, shame a few more didn't join in, must all be suffering from seasonal disorder whatever, like me.

Congratulatins to Jeff.
I look forward to receiving half a wooden spoon, so that I may do a bit of stirring with it.
Barmie Kev's picture looks like one of those film star studio portraits from the 50s.
I was actually in two minds whether to say Janet or Daisy for the photo that proved to be Daisy, although I'd then have failed to receive the coveted wooden spoon.

Thanks folks, any competition needing no skill, I am your man.

Ged, as the postage will probably be more than the worth of the prize please keep hold of it until we next bump into each other. Maybe the Seaxe or MCCC AGM's.

Vic, having witnessed your sartorial elegance many times at Uxbridge I am not sure you qualify to comment on my sandals with socks. Anyway it was all the rage in the 50's.

Kingsdown is a small village on the Kent coast that had a holiday camp where we went a number of years for our holiday, and every year my mum made me enter the fancy dress contest. You can see from the photo that I appear not best pleased and my dad followed the trend of the time by cutting off the top of my head with the box brownie.

Well done Jeff good guesswork or was there a degree of intuitiveness?

Now international man of mystery everyone knows what Ged looks like. Believe me he hasn't changed a great deal.

Ged warn Daisy any appearances at Middx games may be greeted by chant "were you Janet in disguise".

Barmy Kev
I'm only here for the tele

Yes, the sad part is that my hairstyle hasn't much changed in 45 years, apart from a bit of a recession.

As for the Daisy/Janet baby photo confusion, mercifully I believe that both ladies have sufficient sense of humour to absorb that particular issue.
