Who's got that jersey?
What a tremendous collection of entries we had for part two of the Big Perce quiz. Four deadly serious contestants all played in the upper echelons of the cricket quizzing world. It was really tight with universally high scores. Everyone did incredibly well.
Indeed, once again Big Perce himself would only have come 2nd equal with 28 points, once I had allocated some bonus points for those who spotted multiple correct answers.
Suffice it to say that the editor’s (i.e. the judge’s) decision on the scoring method and results is final; any debate people might want to have about some of the answers should be done on this topic, but without the expectation of the results being changed.
In order to maintain interest in the remaining parts of the quiz (and in recognition of the subjective nature of some of the marking), master points towards the overall contest are awarded as follows:
• 1st place – 4 master points
• 2nd place – 2 master points
• 3rd place – 1 master point
So, without further ado, here are the scores on the doors, in reverse order:
• 4th place – Teletext Army – 27
• 2nd place equal – Middlesex Infinitum – 28 (gaining 1.5 master points)
• 2nd place equal – Jonathan Winsky – 28 (gaining 1.5 master points)
• 1st place – Mr Trellis - 28.5 (gaining 4 master points)
Many congratulations to Mr Trellis who didn’t get any questions wrong, dropping only a couple of bonus half marks. E-mail me your address and a miniscule prize will be winging its way to you as quick as you can say, “where have I put the blithering sticky-backed plastic and stamps?”
Here is the master point leader board after two rounds:
• Teletext Army and Mr Trellis share the Tour de Wath Main Yellow Jersey - 4 master points each;
• Jonathan Winsky - 2.5 master points;
• Jeff Coleman – 2 master points;
• Middlesex Infinitum - 1.5 master points.
Everything still to play for, folks. You have a chance of winning the overall contest in future rounds at this stage even if you didn’t enter the first couple of rounds. In any case, each round has its own glory and miniscule prize, so who wouldn’t want to join in?
Many congratulations to all entrants who did so very well. All that remains is to publish the answers below and wait for all hell to break loose as people debate the various merits!
