Sophia So Good

A new reporter gives us an expats version of a tight win in Cardiff.  Weather, medical and travel reports all part of the picture.  Thanks for filling us in.

Our mountain view today is decidedly misty, since we moved to a small village in South Wales about 18months ago,we have learned that any form of cloud,in the local weather forecast usually means rain followed by further rain, but when the forecast is fine and sunny,it's glorious as it was yesterday, for our trip to Sophia Gardens for the Glammy game.

Under blue skies and brilliant sunshine,we settled in amongst a somewhat sparse and quiet  crowd, sitting near us were the three diamonds, I think we were al hopeful of a good exciting game, little did we know what was in store for us.
Our innings, good partnerships, scoring at good rates, sadly players out when looking well set for big scores, some of the highlights for us were seeing Stirlo playing exquisite drives with a straight bat !!! Gubbo with such style and grace, surely can't be long before the three lions come calling.
Morgs looking assured at long last in a Midddle shirt, reverse sweep  an all, Eski destined for great things,Cartwright battled through, Simmo a bad day at the office.Franco what a great assured confident innings and the icing on the cake, must be Sowter's last over efforts, priceless  to see the Glammy players expressions!
304 still about 30 or 40 runs short in our view.

The Glammy innings a worryingly good start, with our seam attack not looking very threatening, then Ravi set to work removing both openers, then Stirlo what a caught & bowled ,first ball of his spell. Then a great partnership of 126 runs, maybe we will be catching an earlier train home, partnership breaker Ravi again.Next wicket shortly after Stirlo this time, sights set on later train again, doubts again set in good partnership developing,Sowter to the rescue.
Another 17 runs added,Tom Helm to the rescue this time, any thoughts of trains put on hold, the annoying but good Wagg is cleaned up by the skipper, who at last has a wicket.First ball of the last over Helm takes the last wicket to fall,a win may be on ,then it starts to go wrong again!
Cue, time for Cap'n Morgan to step in,or rather sprint in to have a word with the bowler on two occasions, result we hang on for a two run win!!

I have with my GP a review of my blood pressure meds due, after yesterday I think shall bring the review forward! Have to give credit to Franco, never a favourite of ours, but thought yesterday he again played an important assured innings, and quietly praised the bowlers, particularly  Ravi  and the skipper.
Think it's obviously very early days for the skipper, but am grateful that he has Morgan and Franco on hand.
Another point to raise is we noticed that one of the diamond's comfort breaks, coincided, with the fall of at least three Glamorgan wickets, coincidence?,planning?not sure but we found it highly amusing.

All in all a great day out in glorious weather,an exciting game of cricket, only down side, being delays to our train home, thanks to GWR,the train company that just keeps giving.

Many thanks to our lost Lost Sheep from sharing your live view. I'm glad you eventually made it back to Neath.

I reckon that Diamond should be our player of match or even of month if his/her form continues at Hove and Taunton.
