Glam tail Waggs to give us a too short Lead

Rain go away

By Barmy Kev
June 18 2019

Due to pre-planned events Tuesday was always going to be my first day at this game. I should learn, but when on Thursday before I checked the long term forecast day 3 was going to be hot with little prospect of rain, my only worry would be whether we would be in a Sussex like scenario by then.

As we all know, we totally dominated day 1 and 2, but  there was an awful forecast for the remainder of the game. Last night my device said rain was going start over Radlett 3pm. This morning I woke up it will now start midday. Way Out West cancelled understandably not wanting to do 4-hour return trip for little cricket. I was thinking if I had not promised Tom Helm May Player of month award and do this report I would give this a miss. I felt sorry for Radlett with some loss of income and so chose not to do my usual of bringing own supplies minus the goblet and rely on paying for what Radlett CCC can provide.

There was a sparse crowd watching to see if we can gain two more bonus points or achieve a miracle. Finn dislodged Root’s stumps and Owen Morgan out for a duck not reverse sweeping. Gloomy weather heading our way above. Meanwhile, their namesakes are building a big partnership at Old Trafford in glorious sunshine. WTF can’t he do this for us said someone witnessing a six from the Radlett bar TV

Most conversations revolved around their phones for chances of rain ahead with various answers predicting  between 40 % and 100% starting at varying times between midday and 5pm.  This was a distraction, while play was going on so why not concentrate on that while it lasts. I was glad to see Lloyd eventually out just before lunch. Then off for light drizzle, only 4 overs lost.  46 needed with 4 wickets in hand for Glam to avoid the follow on and hopefully enough time to take 10 further wickets.

After lunch a Stirlo wicket followed by heavy rain that again didn’t last long.  It’s now 38 with 3 wickets left wicket two in one long  over. 28-2 needed for that follow on that gives us hope. Wagg was holding firm with Carey he hit a six of Sowter taking them despairingly close to their moral victory. The follow on saved from what looked like a dropped catch at slip an over before new ball due, This over produced a wicket that might earn us a valuable bonus point.

At least we now have 12 points from the game.

The heavens opened up for good for the day and probably for tomorrow. Even if our false hope was fulfilled, most unlikely if weather would have allowed enough time for a win.

This all too much, But worthwhile me turning up to present Tom Helm his MTWD May player of month award.
