Opening Ceremony to Dazzle as KKR plays DC

IPL 3 All Set!
By Nima
March 12 2010
The opening ceremony of the IPL-3 at the Mumbai Indian’s home ground, the D.Y. Patil Stadium, is set to be a dazzle.

The itinerary set for the opening ceremony includes:-

v     Spirit of Cricket oath by captains of all the eight participating teams

v     Signing of Spirit of Cricket Board

v     Signing of UNEP designed globe (made out of recyclable material) pledging the commitment to reduce carbon footprints

v     Stage performance by Lionel Richie, Ali Campbell of  UB40s, Bjorn Again, etc.,

v     Dance performance by shadow artists

v     A Brief video on IPL journey

v     Dance performance by Bollywood starlet Deepika Padukone

With all this razzle dazzle, team KKR, who are facing Deccan Chargers tonight in the opening match of the season, are looking to set things right since all the negativities that hit the team, starting from team selections,  to match strategy leakage etc.,

The team led by Sourav Ganguly is looking for a fresh start. Briefing to the media after his net session yesterday, Saurav stressed that its 90% execution and 10% discussion. He said, he doesn’t believe in too much of team meetings, discussions etc., and would rather focus on minimal talk and better performance.

The DC team captain, Adam Gilchrist, was however confident that they can very well defend their title, and have many youngsters joining their ranks this year, like Rohit Sharma, R.P. Singh etc.,

All in all the season looks set for a cracker.

Stay tuned for more on match review.
