Kolkata Knight Riders have finally to cheer about in the third edition of the IPL. They beat the defending champions, Decccan Chargers by 11 runs, to draw the first blood of the new season.

However, things were not going well for the KKR team, as their two batsmen got out with a no runs on the score card.  

It looked like the ghost of IPL2 was again haunting the team, when the lost further two wickets in quick succession.  

However, it seems the kolkata team fans prayers didn't went unanswered this time, as Angelo Mathews played an achor role along with Owais Shah, hitting an unbeaten 65 to take the total score to a respectable 161 runs.  

Deccan Charges however was quick on reply, and it seemed they might just run away with the match.

However, with the fall of Gilchrist, wickets started tumbling on a regular basis, and the turning point came with Rohit Sharma was out for a mishit, and the Chargers stopped short of achievin g the target.  

They could only manage 150 runs in as many overs, while had three wickets to spare.  

It was a good start to the new season, and fans were in for a treat from both the teams.  

The opening ceremony was a glittering affair with stars, while Knight Riders and their fans can now look forward to a more positive and confident for the upcoming matches.
