Effort In Vain!
Given a target of 166 runs to chase, the Mumbai Indians started strongly, crusing at 65-1 at one stage.
However, the sweltering heat at the Chepauk was too much for the little master, who was all cramped up and dehydrated.
He retired on health grounds during the strategy break, sending in Ambaty Rayudu, who unfortunately lasted only 3 balls, going down the wicket to Raina getting beaten by a straight ball for an easy stumping to Dhoni.
The wicket then fell like nine pins, with one of the worst batting display shown by Mumbai Indians' batsmen so far in the tournament.
Their Captain was forced back to crease in no time, but the task at hand was too huge with the asking rate climbing to almost 14 runs per over.
He fell at 45, while Harbhajan did his best by scoring quick 33 runs. The Mumbai Indians finally came short by 25 runs, with Harbhajan getting out on the last ball.
Earlier, Chennai who got a decent start, faltered, with Pollard taking 2-27, with Hayden, Raina and Dhoni being the top scorers.
The win however has put them at 4th place in the league, behind the Royal Challengers.
Suresh Raina was declared Man of the Match.
