IPL: Another 10 Things I Learnt

If it seemed like traditional cricket was getting the Greg Chappell treatment, well....it was. While the Sir Frank Worrell Trophy was being played in mostly empty stadiums and to tiny TV audiences, half way around the world Cirque du Modi was reaching its climax.

1. Lalit Modi gave the people a definite high. Hmmm..wonder if it was his past experience on getting 'high' that was helpful?
2. Mohammed Asif, was he under the under the influence of Lalit or was it Shilajit?
3. The biggest nuisance of IPL was finding a place to pee at the stadiums. I for one was forced to pee on a foot in the dark at Chepauk, no it was not my foot, though it may have been Joginder’s.
4. Chennai finished second best because they had the worst colored outfit in business. They apparently could not find the ball from the reflection of the lights off their bright yellows.
5. Shaun Marsh and Shane Watson managed a back door entry into the Aussie team thanks to IPL. Come on Sunil Joshi make your intention known now.
6. Cheerleaders were there to cheer. Halfway through their leaders decided not to cheer them, so sent some of them home. Moral - leaders definitely need to be cheerful.
7. Not only cheerleaders, but some of the players too were sent home. Moral - no play, no stay.
8. Sachin likes the sidelines, watched the first from there, surprise surprise, the last one too.
9. On more than one occasion, some of the most expensive players in the team delivered less than what they got. One can safely say ROI will never be Ponting’s nickname.

10. Gravitation played havoc with some - fringe players moved towards the center, some centric players found themselves at the fringes. Case and point the Pathans: Yusuf and Afridi
