I stepped on the gas I couldn't bear to watch the Fener keeper saving the tiny number of shots, and incompetent headers, the Gunners managed to serve up. The only highlight of the evening I could remember was the starter at Au Lac's Vietnamese Restaurant before the kick off.
I don't know what RvP has done to earn the undying affection of the crowd, it certainly isn't consistent scoring, but every miss, or saved shot was greeted with the chanting of his name, meanwhile his partner up front did a brilliant impression of a plank, so real it was frightening. If Ade had failed to score in the same situation the crowd would have been on his back.
At one stage Ramsey was struggling to find someone to pass the ball, some of the crowd groaned, but it was Bendtner to blame as he was miles offside and a forward pass would have ended with a free kick for Fener. Perhaps the crowd felt young Aaron was showing up the rest of the team with his expert knowledge of the offside law.
Yes Fener came for the draw and made it difficult to find space, but the Gunners complete lack of tempo failed to create that many chances. The chances that were created were not always that clear cut, and always gave the keeper a chance. It is hard to judge how good Fabianski and Djourou really were as the Turks rarely attacked, and then hardly in numbers.
I would have liked to have seen Vela get a little longer on the pitch, but maybe Wenger felt subbing Nick after an hour was punishment enough. I like Vela a lot, and he did some good things, but unfortunately he has no pace; it means the team is getting slower and slower, and smaller and smaller.
The last few days after the Stoke debacle saw players and manager claim they would bounce back, but instead this November 5th turned into a damp squib. Wenger says they are tired, well it wasn't from too much exertion at Stoke, perhaps they stayed up to watch Obama's historic victory, which is probably the only historic victory they will see this season.
Fabregas says he is frustrated he should try watching from the stands, he would know what frustration really is. Eighty thousand pounds a week? They should pay us that to watch such rubbish (apologies to Nick Hornby). This was one of the most mediocre Arsenal home games in the CL for quite a long time. Hardly the big build up to Man U on Saturday. It's time for Arsene and his players to shut up and let their football do the talking.
