There again if he said I will buy in January that would be a vote of no confidence in the current squad, that wouldn't exactly be great for morale. This team lacks enough confidence already without the manager telling them he doesn't think they are up to it, even if they aren't.
However I am not convinced that this squad will be collecting silverware in May, there are now too many mediocre players in it. I have always hoped that Bendtner would develop, but instead he has gone backwards. Van Persie does not seem to be half the player he was before his injury.
Sagna and Clichy are fine, but the centre backs are now quite ordinary, perhaps they can play better, but they are hardly young.
But the biggest problem is midfield, a midfield that can't shield the defence, and is not producing enough chances on a regular basis.
Arsenal face Man U without Adebayor and RvP, that means there is little pace in the team, and it's hard to imagine where the goals will come from. Will Fabregas increase on his tally of two goals? Will Nasri be more dynamic than he was on Wednesday, or will Diaby have a good game?
Man U are favourites to win at the Emirates, that can't have been the case for a long time. Having lost to Hull and Spurs at home Man U could be a mountain to climb. However during the week all the English teams did poorly in Europe, and Man U drew a while back at Everton. So even Man U are not in great form at present, some might think it's a good time for them to play us, but that could be true the other way around too.
Fans must make sure that any resentment at Wenger to flash the cash does not make itself known to the team against Man U. Any more negativity will destroy any confidence this team has left. A draw will be fine, a win brilliant, but if we lose we must still support the team. Some fans want Wenger out, be careful you may get what you wish for. His departure would destroy any hope of hanging on to Cesc.
A new manager would not guarantee success; just ask the bunch of jokers up the road. How many managers have they had? Perhaps you will argue for the Chelsea model, a club that sacked a manager for being runner up in CL and league. Wenger has built three great teams at Arsenal, he is struggling on the 4th, but the least he deserves is to be judged at the end of the season, not in early November.
Arsenal Possible squad: Almunia, Fabianski, Diaby, Sagna, Fabregas, Toure, Nasri, Gallas, Vela, Walcott, Denilson, Ramsey, Song, Silvestre, Wilshere, Gibbs, Djourou, Clichy, Bendtner

probably a bit of luck involved, ref decision..but you´ll get at least a point.

I think Dixon9 is praying for a draw because Chelsea and Liverpool will be much happier with that result.

YOu can't compare Chelski and Arsenal, it is like comparing haves and have nots!

he was better, one of his best game so far, if Wenger allows him to revert to hsi attacking isntinct and driving froward instead of training to be a box-to-box midfield in this new Trio of Denilson-Fabregas-Diaby.
