| Umar Hassan has turned in star performances all season with bat and ball, his contribution on Saturday of 78 & 5/77 pushed Gedling Colliery into third place. Long Eaton had set 174 and Gedling finished 5 runs short. Calverton require 21points from the last two games to ensure the championship. Eastwood Town’s (121) loss to bottom club Gotham Village (175/9) seems certain to condemn both to 1B next season. His eighth century ensured Majid Saeed (101*) and Notts Amateurs (127/1) record their eighth win of the season; this one over mid-table Bramcote (126/9). Thrumpton (135), who were top of 1C a few weeks ago, slipped to another defeat, this at home to Old Paviors (138/6) and fall off the promotion pace. Former Nottingham Forest defender, Bryn Gunn, attacked the Farndon bowling as he racked up an impressive 167* as Lady Bay Boots scored 230/6, however Farndon made a good challenge finishing just 16 short of the total. Lady Bay’s win takes them to the top of 1D replacing Hickling (158/2) who beat Awsworth (154/7). 500 runs were shared as Nuthall (251/6) lost to Wymeswold (252/8) with just 4 balls to spare, earlier Richard Marsh carried his bat for 136*. The top two of 1F clashed at Snibston but it was leaders Cotgrave who came away victorious. Tony Newby hit 48 as Cotgrave ran up 176/5 then with ball he demolished Snibston for 119, taking 6/30. Winless Woodborough nearly had something to celebrate after they bowled Edingley out for 100, their response was impressive compared to recent performances, but they still failed by 8 runs and remain the only winless team in the league. Rainworth Welfare are champions of 1G, their win over Oxton (165) by 22 runs gave them maximum points. With news that Gladstone had lost again the title was theirs with two games to spare.
