| Veteran Rod Springer hit 52 as Clifton could only manage 139, James Piper’s 84 seeing Attenborough home by 5 wickets. Earlier Attenborough skipper Brian Aplin had taken 6/57. Wollaton eased past Collingham (177/7) as they marched in to the top spot. 16yr old Andy Leyton hit 90 as Kimberley (275/3), got the better of a draw with Southwell II (179/6). In 2B leaders Gedling Colliery (195/7) shared a tie with Long Eaton II (195/9), a result that sees Gedling requiring just 7 points to secure promotion. Stanton-by-Dale (366/3) scored the 2nd highest score in the league with their win over Rolls Royce Leisure (277/9), the combined score of 643 is also a record total. Barry Taylor 116* and Jonathan Morris 151* played well on Stanton’s postage stamp ground. Attenborough III’s 9wkt win over Underwood II (64) has secured them their 4th consecutive promotion. Newstead Abbey II look favourites to join them after beating Willoughby by 10wkts, however Stoke Bardolph still have an outside chance after beating Belvoir II (160/8) by 4wkts. 2E had a clash of the top two that saw leaders Sawley & Long Eaton park (197/4) easily beat Thrumpton II (120), but the points both teams gained have ensured promotion as they are well clear of third place Kimberley (170/2) who beat Awsworth (169/9). Wins for Wilsons II and Beeston II see these teams hold off the challenge of Hucknall III who also won. With Hucknall playing Wilsons next week this should decide who gets the promotion place from 2F. Leaders Snibston Grange (91) came unstuck away at Toton Sycamore II (132)
with Matt Hatton 4/19 and Qadir Younis 44 and 3/22. With Cotgrave (182/7)
beating 2nd place Plumtree (153) the league has opened up to any of 4
teams, but Snibston are firm favourites for one of the places. Long Eaton
III supplied the best bowling performance of the day. Chris Legg 8/24
accounted for Collingham III 52 all out. |
