Notts Festival of Cricket Week
By Steve Williams
August 29 2003
The final day of this junior cricket extravaganza held at The Boots Ground , Lady Bay this afternoon, saw the Nottingham Youth League representative XI share the Dick Reast Under 13 Trophy with their Mansfield counterparts.

Nottingham, after winning the toss, chose to bat first in blustery conditions. After the loss of Kurt Wilson with the score at 42, captain Danny Williams was joined by Jordon Lee. A century partnership ensued that was completely dominated by Williams. The Mansfield team were left regretting dropping him when on one, as he went on to score his maiden century. He was eventually out in the final over, having scored 126 off 104 balls with 19 fours, as Nottingham totalled 187-5 off their 36 overs.

In reply, the Mansfield openers showed how they had won their previous match by 10 wickets, with some excellent quick singles. However, after they were parted on 43, wickets fell steadily and the team were all out for 89. All the bowlers performed creditably, with Andy Kirkwood finishing with the best figures of 3-22.

The trophy was shared, as both teams had won two games each. Newark had a comfortable win over Bassetlaw on the back pitch in the other game.
