Hampshire pace bowler, Chris Tremlett, and Nottinghamshire off-spinner, Graeme Swann, have both been included in the first 25-man squad and are the only two players who did not feature in England’s Test or One-Day squads last winter in Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Tremlett has bowled well so far this season with his brand new county, Hampshire. I saw him take great wickets against Sussex. Graeme Swann has also merited selection, with his impressive batting skills and off-spin a great asset. He may well be selcted against Bangladesh. There were some other great young players left out as all the regulars had to be selected. Gloucestershire seamser Jon Lewis is included, together with England one-day bowler Alex Wharf. Owais Shah was left out, despite being superb for England A, and maybe even surpassing Ian Bell. But Graveney insisted that it was not a "closed shop". So that people who are not in it are not ruled out of playing for England. Alistair Cook in my opinion should aslo have been selected, but perhaps he is one for the future. Graham Napier, Alex Gidman and Mike Powell do not feature, despite Powell being selected in the past for the one-day team. Prior was also shockingly left out. I think a little revision of this squad is needed...
